Freebird Posted September 9, 2018 #1 Posted September 9, 2018 I'm off to a good start this morning. Utopia backrest is installed. Highway pegs are installed. The highway pegs are a KuryAkyn knockoff They were about $100.00 cheaper than the KuryAkyns but the main reason I went with them was because I have decided to go with mostly black on this bike and KuryAkyn doesn't offer the black version for the 1" bars. Will start installing the hitch here in a few minutes. Cold and rainy outside today. Sure would like to try out the new backrest.
WildBill1 Posted September 9, 2018 #2 Posted September 9, 2018 Don't care for all that black you sold the best looking Venture. I'm sure you know or heard this, " Opinions are like butt holes everybody got one". Chrome is my favorite color with black, orange, red elect.
Yamahacarey Posted September 9, 2018 #3 Posted September 9, 2018 What brand are the foot pegs and do you have a part #, where did you get them?

If you want to remove that cover remember after removing that 1/4 turn screw you have to slid the access panel up and then pull it outwards to release it from the plastic slots in the lower fairing.
djh3 Posted September 9, 2018 #5 Posted September 9, 2018 I think the black pegs go well with the matte and black finish of bike. I have the same style pegs on my XCT, they were on the RSV also. They are Kuryakin and use to be chrome, but the stuff started flaking off a couple years ago. Then it got really bad, so I wire brushed them and painted them with a black "hammered" type paint. For the money Kury charges you would think the finish would be more durable.
rwrenn1 Posted September 14, 2018 #6 Posted September 14, 2018 Yes, please let us know where we can get those highway pegs
Freebird Posted September 14, 2018 Author #7 Posted September 14, 2018 Here is where I got mine: https://www.ebay.com/itm/153055009408 https://www.ebay.com/itm/153055067438 I have read some reports that these pegs won't tighten enough to prevent them from turning on the crash bar if you put a lot of pressure on them. Mine seem plenty tight but if it ends up being a problem, I plan to drill a hole through the clamp and put a recessed set screw in it.
Freebird Posted September 17, 2018 Author #8 Posted September 17, 2018 Just an update for you on these footpegs. They do slip. I have them as tight as possible and they will still turn on the crash bars. I think a thin shim around the bar made from an aluminum can would solve the issue but I'm not going to mess with it. I'm just going to drill and tap a hole and put a recessed allen head set screw in them. Otherwise, I like them and have no regrets. Like I said before, I would probably have purchased the Kuryakyn brand if they had made them with the 1" clamps but they don't. So these were the choice and they will be fine with a little modification.
XV1100SE Posted September 17, 2018 #9 Posted September 17, 2018 Is there a rubber band you can put between the mount and the crash bar? That would take up the space and keep it from slipping.
Freebird Posted September 17, 2018 Author #10 Posted September 17, 2018 Yea, there are several ways that they could be tightened up a bit but I never plan to take them off so will just do it right.
