So riding home tonight I noticed that my lights are not that great. Doesn't help that my high beam is burnt out. Anyway while looking online I see on ebay there are these or something like them.

I am sure that anything would be better but I am just curious if anybody else out there has used these and what they think of them. I figure if I have to change my bulb might as well go all in and just replace everything. I tried searching the forums and all I can find is posts from 4 years ago.

Yes there are several of us done that. But remember, these will not bolt in and fit perfectly. You have to alter them to make them fit. But they make one heck of a light. There are several write ups on here for doing that within the last two years. Don’t know why you couldn’t find them.

When I do a search, all that come up are the ads for the Ebay headlights. I try searching stuff and I am either overwhelmed with useless information or given information that's incredibly vague.

None of the aftermarket LED headlights fit and have to be modified? Why do they say that they fit then? Is that the same for the passing lights as well?

I installed these very lights and they are indeed much brighter even without the passing lights. I removed the stock housing and bulb then used only the outer mounting ring that comes with the kit. Just carefully center the bracket and drill and tap 3 holes for the adjustment screws adjust and you're good to go. Measuring the exact position of the stock bulb before disassembly would help a lot when adjusting. For me it was about an hour job

Have fun out there!

You can get H4 LED Bulbs that work great in place of the stock bulbs. All you have to do is take the rubber boot off at the back of the stock bulb. Went this route over a year ago and have had zero problems with it.

It's hard to imagine what installing these looks like. I'm trying picture it in my head and I'm coming up blank. The 3 holes that need to be drilled and tapped for the adjustment screws has me confused. I thought the adjustment knob was all there was for adjusting the light. Is there any pictures out there showing these getting installed?

I understood that there was a mounting ring that comes with the kit, the (flat) ring is used the other part is surplus. I bought one of these kits some time ago but never got around to fitting it (on the "to do" list!) I didn't think it involved any drilling?

At the time I bought mine there were a number of threads about how to fit it all, one was particularly good with photos. I'll see if I can find it again & add it here.

Found this from one of my old posts hope the links help also do a search for the posts by Alsbar (He actually installed one of those kits I think)

Hey Eagle, here's one thread link

here's another

You will be nixing the stock adjustment knob. I will post some photos of my install the next time I have the front cover off the fairing. Its really quite simple once you see it. In the meantime Ill see if I can find a suitable photo from the internet to use as an aid.

Shadowhawk

I replaced mine with the H4 type led bulb. I did a lot of research on that type of bulb and the one that came up with the best review was the GTR Ultra Series bulb. They are pricey but what a difference. The pictures don't really do it justice.

As an alternative to Daymaker bulbs I use these bulbs. I live and ride in Mexico and am not bound by U. S. regulations for lighting. I only use one bulb and save the other one for a spare.

The 7" Daymaker headlight bulb puts out a lot less light and is more money and you must modify your bike to make it fit. With these led bulbs you simply change the bulb.

I try to avoid driving in Mexico at night, not because of other vehicles but because the road conditions even on the toll roads are much worse. Recently a friend of mine in a Ford pick up had to replace his left front spindle because of a pot hole he did not see at night.

These bulbs are readily found on E Bay.

You eliminate the adjustment knob when installing them.

This is the one I used. Take out your stock light and put this one beside it, then look at the picture of what needs to be done. You’ll see what needs to be done. The passing lights are a direct fit. Light is unbelievable.

So I was watching the reviews for the LED daymaker headlights and I guess the ebay chinese made daymaker are much to be desired. But then again the reviews I was watching was from 2 years ago. Not sure if they have been improved since then. Part of me says that review is BS but I just don't know. So far from these forums I've heard good things. I think at this point as dim as the stock light is, anything would be an improvement. Yamaha headlights during the early 2000's really suck. My 06 Vstar 650 headlight is horrible and I would not be surprised if my mag light would be better. I wish JW Speaker made lights for our bikes... Much more spendy but I would put out the extra cash for the best light in the market from the looks of it. Their adaptive light looks badass. http://www.jwspeaker.com/products/adaptive-led-headlights-model-8790-adaptive-2/ I wonder if those can be modified to fit in our bikes?

For my RoadStars, I use the Trucklite 7 as they are less expensive, but do a fantastic job. They give me more light than I need. I think the usable Lux at 25' is the highest of all. That's the usable light.

Are the road stars and ventures headlights compatible at all considering the road star has an external bucket housing and the venture is all inside the fairing?

I don't know. The Venture should have a bucket, I would think, just that fairing spreads forward to enclose it. It's the inside of the bucket that matters along with the diameter. R* uses a standard 7" light that fits on hundreds of cars and bikes.
