2018 SVTC Initial Impression

With the post about a camshaft problem and one other post about an issue experienced by a rider from NJ in Quebec... did you ask the dealer if there are any recalls or TSB's for the SVTC ? So far only the two posts on issues. Hope it is isolated but would be good to see if Yamaha knows about this or if there really is potential issue.

 

Really like the picture you posted of the 2nd and 3rd Gen beside each other. The 3rd Gen looks great ! Comparing the two side by side like that, Yamaha did a really nice job on the 3rd Gen !

 

I was one of those who experienced a “valve” issue. Actually it was a failed lifter & cam. Not sure which started it. It was in the rear cyclinder. Yes, Yamaha is aware of it but there’s not wnough with only 2 people having experienced this to warrant a “recall” at this time. I’m sure they’re monitoring this VERY closely. My issue happened at about 7,500 miles. If I recall, the other guy had his happen about 1800 miles. Long Haul Paul just got his and is WELL beyond in mileage that anyone this far has had an issue. Who knows why it happened, the important thing is that Yamaha stepped up right away to take care of it.
