uhfradarwill Posted August 28, 2018 #1 Posted August 28, 2018 I noticed today that my cruise on my 89 VR would not set. Because of all the helpful posts here the first thing I checked was the brake switches. Of course I found my front brake switch was broken where the round part insets into the lever assembly. Anyone have one for sale or know of a source of supply? I'll try to epoxy it but I'm not holding my breath on that!! Thanks Will

Anyone have one for sale or know of a source of supply? I'll try to epoxy it but I'm not holding my breath on that!! Thanks Will There is a small flat lip on the switch so I drilled two tiny holes in the switch lip and into the brake lever switch and tapped them to 2-56. I also JB welded the assembly and am waiting for it to cure. I have my fingers crossed!!
uhfradarwill Posted August 29, 2018 Author #3 Posted August 29, 2018 Ok, between the two small screws and the JB Weld, small amount neatly applied, I'm back in business. I'll continue to look for a switch as I'm not sure how the JB will hold up on the plastic of the switch. Toodles
RedRider Posted August 29, 2018 #4 Posted August 29, 2018 Pinwall would probably be your best bet for a replacement.RR
Prairiehammer Posted August 29, 2018 #5 Posted August 29, 2018 Keep an eye out for this brake switch for the 1986-1987, 41V-83980-01-00. It is a four wire switch, too. It differs from your 1988-1993 brake switch by the addition of a noise filter on the wiring harness of the 1988-1993. Gives you another option when you are seeking a replacement.
