sydem Posted August 28, 2018 #1 Posted August 28, 2018 I installed LED turn signals on my 99 Venture this past winter along with a load equalizer so that they blink at "normal" speed. The last few days they have been inconsistent as to the speed of the blink, fast then back to normal. Today on the way to work the right one was always fast but the left one was normal. After work they were both going fast. I checked all the connections all seemed well. I picked up another load equalizer and installed it but they were still blinking fast. Got it back together and off the maintenance and they are now blinking normally. Through all of this the four way flashers have always blinked normally. Could it be the flasher on the bike itself? I'm open to suggestions.
djh3 Posted August 29, 2018 #2 Posted August 29, 2018 Well my basic experience on lighting is this. When lights are dim or start not lighting correctly, go to a ground source. If one of the lights does not have a good ground it will try to find one. If it has to it will go backwards so to speak and use say the other front light ground. But because it has to go the extra distance it is a "weaker" ground and thus will not draw the "correct current" if you want to think about it like that. The flasher needs to "see" a certain resistance to work. If its less it kind of works faster.
XV1100SE Posted August 29, 2018 #3 Posted August 29, 2018 I have the Custom Dynamics run/turn/brake lights and I had the same issue. Load equalizer in the circuit and they still flashed fast. Called tech support and they said to add another load equalizer, one for each light. No problems since.
