rebelbull69sbcglobal.net Posted April 30, 2008 #1 Posted April 30, 2008 i have seen a post on drilling mufflers but thanks to another member on this board {sorry dont remember the name} anatomy of a muffler i have found i cannot do it this certain way with my mufflers. i have the cones and if i took them off i would have the middle pipe sticking out. my question is how is the best way to do this? thanks alot
Marcarl Posted May 11, 2008 #2 Posted May 11, 2008 Don't know how much noise you are looking for, but I just drilled mine out with a 7\8 spade drill bit. From both ends. Gives a bit of a rumble, not anything loud but enough to show that work is being done. Easy to do, all you need is a long extension, the metal is really quite easy to drill out.
FROG MAN Posted May 11, 2008 #3 Posted May 11, 2008 I sawed mine at the weld with a hacksaw and drilled them out. Yea I know one of the holes is not uniform. But hey when I'm cruising nobody notices. The noise is not bad for the rider. I still listen to my am,fm ok.
