Guest kimrpaige Posted April 29, 2008 #1 Posted April 29, 2008 Hi Folks, I just recently purchased a beautiful 88 White VR with 44K on heer and I just found out the rear shock does not hold air. It pumps up then bleeds off right away as she loweers herself. My question is ; What normally goes south, the air line to the shock, fittings, or the shock itself? Thanks in advance, Kim
sarges46 Posted April 29, 2008 #2 Posted April 29, 2008 Never heard of the shock going south actually. Its been the fittings, hoses or the thing that compresses.....dang....where the desicant is....theres some valves in that may go. Whats it called guys....help!
Squidley Posted April 30, 2008 #3 Posted April 30, 2008 The CLASS system can be a PIA, there are a few areas that it could be leaking from. Fill a bottle with soapy water and spray it around the fittings and see what you come up with. It's going to be a bunch of trouble shooting, but take your time and ask questions when you get stuck...we'll be here.
Guest kimrpaige Posted April 30, 2008 #4 Posted April 30, 2008 Thanks, That was my next plan, just thought maybe it was a common problem. Hopefully its a loose fitting or line. Kim
rhncue Posted April 30, 2008 #5 Posted April 30, 2008 Thanks, That was my next plan, just thought maybe it was a common problem. Hopefully its a loose fitting or line. Kim Mine does the same thing. I changed the shock but it never helped. I'm pretty sure it is the line going to my shock or the connections. If it was the air release solenoid in the compressor I think the front would leak down also. I've got to tear into mine probably Sat. anyway as I bought a new Progressive spring for the shock and I want to install it. Dick
Gearhead Posted May 1, 2008 #6 Posted May 1, 2008 Dick, let us know how that new Progressive rear spring works for you. Jeremy
Guest kimrpaige Posted May 2, 2008 #7 Posted May 2, 2008 Thanks to all that replied. My shock now seems to be OK. Didn't do anything to it but she holds air now. We'll see for how long, LOL Thanks again, Kim
GigaWhiskey Posted May 2, 2008 #8 Posted May 2, 2008 I guess the bike didn't want you tinkering with it anymore. Kewl, a do-it-herselfer! (the bike)
