While doing a tune up on my 99 RSV, I noticed one of the studs that holds the driver seat on is broken. Have any of you had this problem, and more importantly is there a fix????? I would hate to have the other stud break.:confused24::think:

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, you have all been a great help with all my questions. I hope I can one day pass some help on to some of you.:thumbsup2:

Thanks,

Big Mike

Common problem Mike....no worries and you really cant fix it as the stud and post are 1 unit. Many guys I know, me included, dont have their seats bolted on, when you sit on them they aren't going to come off.

I have replaced one before. I removed the cover, it is stapled on, and replaced the stud with a bolt of the same size. Then just stapled the cover back on. Turned out fine.

Thanks to both of you for answering what you know. I guess i'll just let it be for now. Maybe i'll just make that a winter blues project. I love how anyone can get simple answers to their worries here. I very much appreciate you guys.

By the way Squidley, I have not been avoiding you when you called back about those Road King mufflers. It just has been very busy around here, so I have decided for now to just put those mufflers on the back burner. Thanks for being so helpful.:thumbsup2:

I have ground the broaken stud down flat and then drilled and tapped it. I then installed a new stud with red locktite on it. You can't even tell that it's been repaired.

I just left my seat unbolted. Just remember to tie it down if you ever have to trailer it. I know this never happens. Don't really know why I even mentioned it!! LOL:Avatars_Gee_George:

I do like mine loose cause I can get to the good stuff undreneath easily.

I had to do this on both of the seat bolts...turned out to be a good fix.
