Hey guys, Got the motion pro bead pro tire spoons in the mail the other day and finally got to try them on that old Elite 4 on the front. What an awesome set of spoons! It took ten minutes to have the tire off and on the second time... I say second time because I put the tire on backwards the first time.....

Anyways went with the sticky 1/4 ounce weights and balanced out the tire. I made sure to line the mark up with the valve stem, but it took 3 and 1/4 ounce of weight to balance out. Thats 6 weights on the road side and 7 on the curb side. They're pretty close to the valve stem as well, which I guess would make sense because that would be the lightest part of the rim, and I can run 100mph smilin at the camera with a toothpick in my mouth and you can still read the brand of Cigerettes that I've got tucked in my T-Shirt sleeve :innocent:, but DANG doesn't 3 and 1/4 ounce seem like a lot of weight?

OUTSTANDING AND GOOD ON YA CHA!!!!!!:clap2::clap2::dancefool::dancefool::dancefool:

I have a fairly good supply of clip on weights (the ones that hang on the center rib of the 1st Gen wheels) that I reuse and can tell you that a pair of 2 oz hang on's right from from Mom Yam was fairly common. I also use those 1/4 oz stick on's a lot (my R1) and know that appearance,, because they are so spread out when compared to a clip on - it looks like a lot... Personally,,, I would be good with what ya got Cha as long as she balanced out at triple digits :dancefool:

It is possible that you could have fine tuned some of the weight need out by rotating the tire on the rim 180 degrees and rebalancing but still,,, probably not worth the extra effort IMHO.. I helped a friend swap out a rear tire recently and we were shocked to see 27 1/4 oz weights spread over his wheel by a dealership who obviously had no clue about tire installs = 27 of them!!!!! Now if you were talking what I am saying,,, IMHO,,,,, I would have said time for a redo....

NOTE: After reading your description of how ya came out on this balance job = I FEEL THE NEED,,,,, THE NEED FOR :bikersmilie::15_8_211[1]::big-grin-emoticon::thumbsup:

27 of them? By a dealership? I find that hard to believe as dealerships make 100 an hour so they couldn't have screwed up! (Sarcasm alert) well I'm glad they at least got them on good enough that the wheel didn't become one of those automatic assault rifles shootin lead everywhere! They would probably be trying to ban it!

That definitely makes me feel better about using 3 and 1/4 ounces thanks Puc and thanks for the YouTube video about balancing tires. You ought to charge for all those lessons!

Now get out there and "clean them carbon deposits" on your girls. That oughta take care of that need for speed!
