86er Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 I don't think I could take this walk! This is absolutely spectacular. May make you queasy but definitely worthwhile..... El Caminito del Rey (The King's pathway) is a walkway, now fallen into disrepair, pinned along the steep walls of a narrow gorge in El Chorro, near Ãlora in Málaga, Spain. The name is often shortened to El Camino del Rey. History In 1901 it was obvious that the workers of the ChorroFalls and GaitanejoFalls needed a walkway to cross between the falls, to provide transport of materials, vigilance and maintenance of the channel. Construction of the walkway lasted four years. It was finished in 1905.In 1921 the king Alfonso XIII had to cross the walkway for the inauguration of the dam Conde del Guadalhorce, and it became known by its present name. The walkway has now gone many years without maintenance, and is in a highly deteriorated and dangerous state. It is one meter in width over a 700-meter fall, and over time it has lost its handrail. Some parts of the walkway have completely collapsed and have been replaced by a beam and a metallic wire on the wall. Many people have lost their lives on the walkway in recent years. After four people died in two accidents in 1999 and 2000, the local government closed the entrances. However, adventurous tourists still find their way into the walkway.Another mid-day stroll for the ecotourists among you........ http://www.brightcove.tv/title.jsp?title=1438490562 .
eagleeye Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 I'd guarentee you I'd hold my breath. Heights are not my favorite thing to do. The edge of the cliff is not where I want to be. Cool 86er, Steve
Marcarl Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Ontario is more or less flat, and that's where I'll stay.
SilvrT Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 that freaked me so much I couldn't even watch all of it!
Mariner Fan Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 That was giving me the creeps just watching the video!
sarges46 Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Jeess, mother of all good! I think I will stay guarding murderers and such....much less scary!
RedRider Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Not enough money in the world to get me on that path. Guy's got stones of steel or brains of iron - or both. RR
Sleeperhawks Mechanic Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 All I can wonder is how in the world did the guys build the pathway in the first place?
jrcain32 Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 There is no way on God's green earth you would get me on that path. You would have to shoot me (dead) and drag me across. There are two things in the world that I am affraid of and this is the worst.
Gene-b Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 And they say riding a motorcycle is CRAZY! This guy's got me beat.

DragonRider Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 That is the things nightmares are made of!!! Aint no way in hell you would get me anywhere near that, those people are pure D certified crazy...........:no-no-no:
autopilot Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 I could do that with my eyes closed!!! 'Cause you sure couldn't get me on it with them OPEN! Reminds me of this dumb video game my son used to have that I'd play once in a while. Those guys are just nuts. (They're probably scared of LOW places )
spear Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 Nuh. Sorry. Not for me. I tell you what though. If I DID do it, I'd at least have helmet-cam so I'd have both hands free to grab anything and everything as I did the walk. Looks like that guy's viewing as he films as he walks.
Yammer Dan Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 Maybe when it was new. Then again I'm with Rick!!!

Venturous Randy Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Holy Molly, that was almost too painful to watch. I could not have made it up to the first step. RandyA
AZSpyder Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 I bet when that new it would have been pretty neat, and maybe even safe. Jerry
