snyper316 Posted June 19, 2018 #2 Posted June 19, 2018 Clueless Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk You might need to get ahold of Jerry and see if he has a rig for it..... Our standards as far as I can find there is no way to put a back rest on them easily.
RDawson Posted June 19, 2018 #3 Posted June 19, 2018 You need the brackets. They mount in place of the helmet locks and the end bolt of the passenger grab bar. The locks then mount on tabs on the bracket. Just pulled one from my parts bike that Luv my 40 is interested in. Irony is that rest is why I bought the parts bike but it doesn't fit the MKII.
luvmy40 Posted June 19, 2018 #4 Posted June 19, 2018 You are missing parts or that is an MK2 back rest(not sure which). The back rest for the MK1, and it maybe the same back rest as the MK2 with different mounting hardware(again, not sure) mounts to the helmet lock tabs and the passenger grab bar mounting point. The helmet locks then are moved to mounting points on the MK1 specific mounting hardware. I am in the process of buying an MK1 driver's back rest from another forum member. When I get it I'll have better information for you.
luvmy40 Posted June 19, 2018 #5 Posted June 19, 2018 Well, RDawson beat me to the punch. and is also the source of the back rest I am in the process of acquiring!
Chaharly Posted June 19, 2018 #6 Posted June 19, 2018 Well, RDawson beat me to the punch. and is also the source of the back rest I am in the process of acquiring! You are missing parts for sure. I'll post a quick vid of what mine looks like
Chaharly Posted June 19, 2018 #7 Posted June 19, 2018 (edited) Here you go Steve Mine is a MKII by the way Edited June 19, 2018 by Chaharly
RDawson Posted June 19, 2018 #8 Posted June 19, 2018 Not a great pic but all I've got. There are 3 diamond shaped holes it pins into for front-back adjustments.
bongobobny Posted June 19, 2018 #9 Posted June 19, 2018 Yup, you got screwed out of the mounting brackets! There are two styles, one for the MK1 and one for the MK2...
s.tyler58 Posted June 19, 2018 Author #10 Posted June 19, 2018 Thanks everyone! Good thing I hung onto my trusty sleeping bag! I guess the search for parts continues... Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

I think these are MKI grab bars and brackets. I'm looking on my phone though. Might look on a computer to see em big enough to tell.

snyper316 Posted June 19, 2018 #13 Posted June 19, 2018 Now I know what to look for I want to try one. Never ride faster then your angel can fly. I am as free as the wind on my face.
bongobobny Posted June 19, 2018 #14 Posted June 19, 2018 Yup, those are the ones you want. Those are MK1. The guy wants waaaay too much, especially when those crash bars are rashed so bad... I'm not sure what they mean by "remanufactured" either.

s.tyler58 Posted July 1, 2018 Author #17 Posted July 1, 2018 The only adjustment seem to be laterally or side-to-side rather than front to back... Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
bongobobny Posted July 1, 2018 #18 Posted July 1, 2018 Looks like you need to tweak the bracket a little! I would try clamping the part that bolts onto where the helmet lock went (use a rag to prevent scratching) and bend it just enough to change the angle. Use a big crescent wrench, or a hammer or whatever you come up with to get it to line up! Chances are the real issue is with your crash bar, it probably got tweaked at one time or another. You could try loosening the bolts that hold it and try aligning the bracket again. How does the other side line up??
dna9656 Posted July 1, 2018 #19 Posted July 1, 2018 I agree with bongobobny, I'm betting your crash bar got tweaked. You could try tweaking it back or PM me I got used crash bars, heck; I got the crash bars the brackets come off of!

It does wiggle from there but I can't really tell whether the wiggle is in the bolts the mounting places or the ends of the bars. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

dna9656 Posted July 1, 2018 #22 Posted July 1, 2018 Investigate why the crash bar is loose first. fix that. see if it all lines up if not THEN I'd loosen the crash bar, install the back rest bracket, have all the bolts started and start tightening stuff up slowly. If it jams up you'll know. Don't strip or break anything.
