Du-Rron Posted July 20, 2018 #26 Posted July 20, 2018 So...which oil should I use? :smile5::smile5: ... "Mostly Sunny".... Yeah right.... It is so freaking hot here and those air-cooled scoots run so hot, the only thing I can recommend is the squeezings left over from McDonalds French Fry machine that is stored in the blue dumpster out back behind the Mcdonald's awaiting recycle. I think it is made up of partially melted plastic. That goo is about 130 weight and cannot be destroyed by heat (or anything else known to man). You have to pick the stuff up at night... kinda on the sly... and the bonus is that it is absolutely free and your scoot will smell like a French fry machine as long as you use it. :225::225::225:
BlueSky Posted July 20, 2018 #27 Posted July 20, 2018 So...which oil should I use? :smile5::smile5: Any brand that meets the JASO MA spec and the viscosity recommendations of Yamaha.
videoarizona Posted July 20, 2018 #28 Posted July 20, 2018 Hot? Geesh, youse guys are wimps.... Phoenix is looking at 115 next week. Normal stuff. Which is why I run 20-50wt Yamalube in my scoots. Except for this last run across country on the RSV into cooler weather in June....I ran Rotella T6 20-40wt. Time to change oil...it's hot! BTW, I'm thankful for the discussion about the TC. I do like that scoot. But a travel trailer comes first....then maybe a 3/4ton Sierra HD diesel... So thanks and keep your observations coming!
Du-Rron Posted July 20, 2018 #29 Posted July 20, 2018 Phoenix is looking at 115 next week.... (T6 is 5W-40... ) The good news is that it is so hot it is keeping the bugs grounded here. Ever notice your windshield is cleaner this time of year?

Ever notice your windshield is cleaner this time of year? Don't notice that here. With the heat, I ride early morning or after the sun goes down. Bugs come out then as well......silly buggers!

Du-Rron Posted July 20, 2018 #32 Posted July 20, 2018 Yikes!!! It isn't even the hot months yet. Looks like San Angelo is located close to the edge of Hell.
BlueSky Posted July 20, 2018 #33 Posted July 20, 2018 speaking of oil, I was in Walmart yesterday looking at the labels on the Rotella oils. The dino version T4 and the T6 synthetic oils have the JASO MA spec listed on the label but the T5 synthetic blend has no JASO MA spec listed. Curious?

I only find T5 in 10W-30 so I would not run that in anything I have.
