Guest cwil2988 Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Anyone got fishtail exhaust on their ride? been playing around with putting em on my TD, and was also wondering if anyone has replaced the stock tips with any aftermarket to any degree of success
cecdoo Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Yep, had the samson fishtails on, I really liked the way they looked, cool kinda retro, but a little too loud for me, I just put a set of slash cut harley pipes on, look pretty good, sound much better. Craig
Switch Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 My '97 had fishtails on it when I bought it . Nice sound but I get a lot of backfiring on deceleration and wondering if the closed down opening are retaining gas pressure that is causing the backfiring. Been thinking of taking them off and see if it still backfires.

Another option was to remove the AIS BRad
nkbjones Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Yes, but I have them on my Bub's. Gary, what tips did you use for the bubs? Mine are flaking bad and I would to add the fishtails. Anything special for mounting and how much did they cost.

Guest cwil2988 Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 Found this place Jirehs that offers a slip on fishtail muffler for 49.95, and was wondering if anyone had any experience. also, was curious as to the diameter of the head pipe on the 06 TD. these mufflers are 1 3/4 I.D.. I was hoping someone could tell me the size of the headpipe without me having to tear it apart to measure it- heat shield and all right in the way like it is. I figure that with all the Harley conversions going on, it had to be a fairly common size, and 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 seem to be the most common that i run across.
