Hartebreak Posted June 13, 2018 #1 Posted June 13, 2018 (edited) All, Not sure how many of you saw my intro post, but Im in the process of building a trike out of an 83 Royale. The trike Im building, (or attempting to build) is a Mad Max themed bike for Wasteland Weekend (look it up). My question is, how much electronics can I strip off the bike and still keep it running properly? If possible, I would like to keep just the necessary electronics needed for the ignition system and maybe keep the radio operational, no need for lights and etc as its only an offroad thing. I know this is probably a lot different than most threads you guys get, but I promise, its going to kick butt. I am planning on keeping a log of my progress as I go along on this journey. bongobobny Posted June 13, 2018 #2 Posted June 13, 2018 Here's a start for you... http://www.venturerider.org/wiring/83%20Yamaha%20Venture%20Royale%20TDK%20Wiring%20Diagram%20Rev%20C.pdf Now, you can bypass a lot of safety features by putting a ground on the Black/White wire on the TCI box but the downside is you can start in gear without the clutch squeezed, with the kickstand down, etc. The kickstand issue should not be an issue as a trike, but the starting in gear with the clutch engaged can be a safety issue...

I ripped all of the wiring out, left basic stuff to run the engine. zag
mmaleney Posted June 15, 2018 #4 Posted June 15, 2018 Max lives. Over the last number of years I have built two trikes from the venture like the type you want to build so if you want any info or a photo of what kind of trike I now ride I would be glade to help. Good luck, Mike.
