Okay guys I took it out today after putting on the lower fairings and what an unbelievable difference. Completely solved the problem. Really appreciate all the help from everyone. Especially Steven G. and sldunker. So I have one more question I would like to ask (at least for now). I notice a bit of backfiring on deceleration, not terrible but more then I think there should be. I set the pilot jets all at a tad more then 2 1/2 turns out. I have read that the backfire is more then likely from too lean a mixture. My question is do you think that I should take it into a shop and have them set the fuel mixture? I know they have the equipment to set them better then I probably can. Or do you think I can get them relatively close by making my own adjustments? Thanks again.

2 1/2 turns out should be more than enough. Mine are all 2 to 2 1/4 turns out and I never have popping. I don't have the AIS plugged either.

Check the rubber plugs in the intake manifolds under the carbs for cracks. One on each side. You may be sucking in extra air there or somewhere else.

One thing you can try is, use your enricher just a crack open then try your quick deceleration.

If it helps then you know plus or minus a 1/4 turn at a time.

Remember compression is the key to complete combustion, you should know what it is and budget or tune accordingly.

Yeah I thought 2 1/2 would be good but went a slight bit past. I did check the plugs and they seem to be fine. I think I'll try doing what Steven suggests and move them a little at a time and see what happens. From some of the other posts on here it seems that guys who have had them adjusted at the shop have said that the settings on each carb were not consistent. Have you guys ever had yours set at the shop?

That would be correct. You are tuning one jug at a time each tune effect the response it actually is caused by firing order. Just some back round: This has to do with lever on the crank, when 1 is more efficient then 2 causes some drag, tune 2 again and 3 causes the more drag, then 4 is draging 1 and you just repeat till the effect on the pilot shows a balance or no noticeable change; then you can turn in or out 1/4 turn on all 4! Then reset Idle

Remember these efforts are not your riding power they just bridge till you hammer down;)

And I should of mentioned that 2 1/2 is a good starting point!

Also why they don't all end up equal is the jug circuits are not all equal, so the tuning is based one on one to match of the low and high pressures of each circuit!

This is why we start with knowing the facts, when we want to be meticulous. Solid compression "should" equal predictable low pressure, that no leaks, good valve seating, no buildup on the back of the valves, no restrictions in the exhaust ports....... yep

Also very important problematic circuit can be leaking enrichers.

wrscomncents Here is the set up I MacGyered together to bench set my floats a few years ago by modifying an old fire extinguisher and it worked a charm.

Nice setup. Your carbs look different than mine. Maybe yours are gen 1. I did a somewhat similar setup and I could not get my fuel level to change either higher or lower in the tube no matter how I set the floats. Everything is back together now and running fine but I ended up just setting them using the measuring method. Still not sure why the levels would not change.

Yes they are Gen 1 MK-II
