Eddy Posted April 28, 2008 #1 Posted April 28, 2008 Just wondering if anyone is using a rack in their receiver hitch. Where did you get it and how do you like it? I'm not too sure about the one Rivco makes. Eddie
SaltyDawg Posted April 28, 2008 #2 Posted April 28, 2008 Just wondering if anyone is using a rack in their receiver hitch. Where did you get it and how do you like it? I'm not too sure about the one Rivco makes. Eddie I have one that I use although it's not a very big one. The cooler is rather small, it can hold a few sandwiches and several drinks. Nothing carbonated or else they can't be drunk right away from all the bouncing around. I usually have ice and a few water bottles. I also put my cool packs in it to regen them. The one I have came with the bike, it was one that was made on the venturers.org site several years ago and offered up for sale. It doesn't block the tag or lights at all. I also have the cooler bag that goes inside the saddlebags. That works great as long as you empty the water out of it at the end of the day to keep the water from seeping into the insulation.
V7Goose Posted April 28, 2008 #3 Posted April 28, 2008 There are several older threads with various options listed. I got mine here: http://www.alsmotorcycleaccessories.com/ I bought the "Luggage Rack" instead of the "Cooler Rack". I like it a lot. Sometimes I mount it to the tongue of my trailer, sometimes I just use it alone with the receiver. When I travel solo, however, I just put the cooler on the seat behind me - better weight distribution and less shakeup of the contents. Goose
Guest Popeye Posted April 28, 2008 #4 Posted April 28, 2008 It seems some exhaust deflectors should come with this one. http://www.alsmotorcycleaccessories.com/new_cooler_rack.html
Double D Posted April 28, 2008 #5 Posted April 28, 2008 It seems some exhaust deflectors should come with this one. http://www.alsmotorcycleaccessories.com/new_cooler_rack.html I bought mine at the same place and have used it over a year now with no problems. The company is great to work with. I sent them the deminisions that I wanted the rack from the finder and when it arrived it was perfect. I did not like the 5 plug wiring so I re-wired it to a 4 pin plug. Letting me use dual brake/turn signals lights. Her is a picture:
Tartan Terror Posted April 28, 2008 #6 Posted April 28, 2008 Give Squid a call. I think the ones he makes are for the Venturedad hitch but Im sure with a few mods that im sure are nothing to him you will be able to use if for the Rivco.
Squidley Posted April 28, 2008 #7 Posted April 28, 2008 I have made a couple of racks that slide into the Reece style reciever hitches. If I'm not mistaken I thought that Diamond R made a rack that fits into one? Mine were made out of Stainless stell and the 2nd one that I gave to Mean Dog was out of Aluminum, which I polished.
FutureVentures Posted April 28, 2008 #8 Posted April 28, 2008 More importantly, to me anyway. Is there an easy(inexpensive) way to carry my golf clubs on the hitch? Some of these cooler racks, with a few bungees look like they "might" work. Anyone tried something similar? Fourrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Freebird Posted April 29, 2008 #9 Posted April 29, 2008 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=21437&highlight=golf+clubs OH....you said inexpensive. I don't think this one qualifies.

FutureVentures Posted April 29, 2008 #11 Posted April 29, 2008 How is this..... http://www.alsmotorcycleaccessories.com/new_golf_rack.html Yep, that's a hole in one!!! Perfect, bingo! Man, THAT is awesome. I've always wished I could take my bike to/from golf. Course, now I can't drink at the course............well, that's a good thing. Thanks a lot!

Squidley Posted April 29, 2008 #14 Posted April 29, 2008 Would any of you guys that are good with tools be willing to build one for someone else?? Eddie That might be able to be arrainged, I know that I have a few others that would like me to build them one also. What would you be looking for as far as size and money spent. Steel would be cheapest and would obviously need painting. Aluminum would be a bit pricey but would be nice and light and could be polished.....the sky is the limit with me spending your money
