Sorry to hear about the bike not wanting to do the table dance, Ben. These things are beyond our control....we just have to accept it in stride. Not a good feeling, but not much we can do...as they say...S*** happens. :bang head:

Okay don't get me wrong when I say this because I love to ride and have been almost my entire life but..........I have to say that I also love to work on my bike. I've spent the last few months trying to get the mistreated 99 I bought back in service and I can't wait to get it back on the road. But that said spending an entire Saturday in the garage working on the bike is pretty awesome. Although my wife would probably not agree. Anyway I may be crazy.

Youre not “crazy”. For the most part I understand. I enjoy doing my own maintenance & keeper her in tip top shape or customizing her, but there’s a big difference in wanting to do it OR HAVING to do it IF you wanna ride IMHO.

Sooner or later they all get a "have to" fix, but there's such a sense of satisfaction in resurrecting an old one. Yes there may be a lot to getting one finished but if done right they are such a reliable machine you can go longer than the Energizer Bunny. To me it's like redoing a classic car but cheaper. There's nothing like running down the road knowing Yeah I did that. It's a sickness.

I agree with all of the above, BUT timing is a big factor and being force to do major work on your bike 2 days before a trip does tend to take the joy out of it.

I don't know what you call your bike Ben, but whatever you call it, she\he had an idea that you hadn't spent enough time with some of your friends, so it fell over in grief, the result was just what it was looking for. See you tomorrow, make room for a Dodge!

Looked in my parts pile, all I have is the two button controller from an 83 parts bike too. Was hoping I could bring a good one to MD.

I think I figured out what MY problem is. As a field engineer with my own business, I’m CONSTANTLY having to fix stuff day in and day at work. Then, if it’s not work, it’s someone from church who needs something fixed and doesn’t have a lot of money. THEN, there’s the stuff around the house that needs fixing CWS! I guess I just want to have an area of my life where I don’t have to fix something just to have leisure time.
