Trying Carb Sync to quiet engine knock

Well, A I just ordered a motionpro carb sync tool from ebay, a little pricey but seems like a worth while tool to have. I'm getting a bit of an engine knock at deceleration so I thought I'd check the carb sync before digging into it further. Does anyone have any experience with out of sync carbs causing engine noise? Or am I just being hopeful here?
