I think my laptop is broken

Yea, I start it up and everything is good. After a couple of minutes the screen goes dark. I sure hope the monitor is not going out.

Check to be sure your not in CRT mode.

Boot it up while holding down f8 after post (black screen) but before windows starts ( for most machines) and that should get you into safe mode, if this works and youre screen doesnt go black it's likely you have a video driver issue.

I would go in to Start/computer (right click)/properties/device manager /dispay adapter and remove the driver under that heading. Then reboot the machine and let it reinstall your driver and read what it tells you, if its not the right driver being installed look for your laptop install disk and search for it in there or go online and download the right driver from your machine from there.
