ChiefGunner Posted May 13, 2018 #26 Posted May 13, 2018 OK the sudden drop to 50 mph is just plain stupid, and it pisses me off to no end. I have had happen both on my bike and in the truck one lady did it right in front of me!! Two days after I got rearended, I had gotten over way ahead when I seen the lights but some morons do wait till they are on top of the cop car. Then there was another instance I did not figure out what what the H was going on there was a Sheriff car parked in the right lane with his lights on, I did not realize this till I got closer I am just glad the I-49 was not packed at this time because for sure there would have been one hell of a wreck. I have a thing called AT&T Drive mode on my phone I have the option to turn it off or turn it on Manually it has a setting to turn on Automatically at 15mph. They did try 10mph but it simply would not work right I could walk thru my house to the back yard and I would be in Drive Mode!! It has done it with the 15mph just not as bad. But you can call me as long as my Blue tooth is connected. That other stuff on your bike IMHO sounds stupid. Sorry don't want to offend if what needs said is so Important Call me Sheesh, Heck with that text to speech and speech to text!! More then likely you will have to listen to the robot read back what you said and confirm and all that BS!! It is just simpler to make the damned call!! Just my I agree. It’s a nifty function, but I highly doubt I’ll use it. Like has been said, if I need to talk that bad I’ll call.
RDawson Posted May 13, 2018 #27 Posted May 13, 2018 KY is move over OR slow down. With our narrow roads here it is a life saver. I've been grazed with a boat trailer working a wreck scene when people fly through. We usually park a fire engine in the lane next to the scene as a barrier to keep from getting hit. Away from the interstates we have narrow to no shoulders on our roads, we have to do what we can for our own safety. If it pisses somebody off to slow down or stop while we work to get injured people out they can get happy later. My guys and I want to go home in one piece at the end of the day.
YamahaParExcellence Posted May 14, 2018 #28 Posted May 14, 2018 Yeah, I know that's because you're a tough guy.... Arrrgghh!! Tell me about the other 99 out of a hundred that'll even slow down when they're passing someone on the road side getting written up... Like the LEO is going to drop everything and chase them.... Around construction zones in California they'll park old CHP units at both ends of a construction zone with no one in them and traffic will slow down. Heck some are even cardboard cutouts and they work too. Up here in the land of the north, in Ontario, a favorite technique of the O.P.P. (Official Party Poopers) is to have a spotter on an overpass over the main 401 highway, just east or north (depending on what direction they are working in....) of a Service Plaza, and as people, who just had a pee break, a coffee and doughnut, whatever...are happily honking it back onto Highway 401, they have the spotter nail them at 120 KM (70 mph) or more...and then pass that info off to the two or three chaser cars waiting down the highway to nail them. This happens a lot around Woodstock and London, Ont. So, in Ontario, when you DO see a LEO with a customer, you naturally think there are two other's lurking around...or even just down the shoulder, waitin' on ya.... The H401 speed limit default is 100 KM's...(62 mph), and only there at that speed for fine generation. It will never change. If Ontario drivers see an O.P.P. with a customer, most spook and slow down, including myself...yep. They work as wolf packs....especially after the sun goes down.
