Thinking of adding this as well to the SVTC. Harley added this (slipstream) vent into their frame mounted fairing. It removes suction vortex back pressure.

Also very effective in chest area cooling on riders. Works great on GL1800's...so should work just fine after installation in the SVTC windshield.

I'm actually surprised that Yamaha did not install a vent in the windshield, like the GL1800.

I had a taller wider sheild on my 91 Royale and had one of those on it. Worked GREAT!

My concern in the new SVTC is the fact the sheild can be lowered. That Mariana you’re gonna have to place it high enough to lower the sheild & still have clearance. I don’t know what point that is, but I get concerned about view obstruction.

That, when you think about it...could be the very reason. If you on that page open up the instruction PDF, on the last page, is the template. Just print that...and tape it to the screen..and when you lower, see if the dash would obstruct the body..or the template goes below the dash..that let's you know..it won't work. I'm going to do that ...print the last page now...

Post Edit: Chief...print out the three instruction pages. I just did...and on the third page, you get the full size template. Just take that out to your bike...place it on the inside...where you think it should go..and see if it goes below the metal lip...when you are in the fully down position.

I can't do that yet...for I don't have the bike home. The vent template is 8 1/2 inches wide,...and looks great! Just by looking at that...you'd get great air flow...and would positive vent the cockpit behind the shield.

Let me know what you found out with the printed template...thanks.

Chief...nah..it's not going to work...I don't need my bike home to see that a picture of the shield down...would not have a vent possible.. I now know why Yamaha didn't have that already installed...for they gave you everything else....it does not work for an adjustable 'live' windshield. Bummer...throwing the template in the trash, lol.

You have to remember depth dimensions. It sticks through the windshield about 1.75 - 2”. Because the sheild when it lowers also rotates in toward the dash means you need to measure the clearance from the dash to the windshield in the DOWN position. THIS will give you your lowest mounting position.

I was just looking at a pic of the bike with the shield fully down...there's no way...no way...too bad. That's why the bike didn't come with that vent, if they could of...the would have...for sure.

I'm humming that song.."...another one bites the dust...". LOL!

Anyway...let me know what you came up with...you have the bike...and you have the template...maybe you'll pull a rabbit outta the hat...

What are the depth measurements SPECIFICALLY? I’ll go out and measure with it down. Having a hard measurement is the ONLY way to comfirm!

Ok Joe. I just did a clearance measurement giving a 1.75” protrude of the vent. To get that much clearance DOWN, you have to mount the BOTTOM of the vent 11.5” from the top of a stock sheild. In the DOWN position, your field of view is fine. When the bring it UP, the vent will Be Center view and block your view of items 8- 14ft in front of the bike while seated and for OUR height. Not acceptable in my book.

I contacted Klock Werks about their flair windshield, they said they have no plans for the 2018 Venture but they will watch how well the bike is selling and decide for 2019. I had a Knock Werks flair on my Harley and it worked great.

If you guys are interested contact them and let them know that are Star Venture owners out here that are looking for products.

On my Goldwing I installed a "Windbender" shield. It's actually a two piece setup and to me was the best thing I ever did to that bike. If they made one for the SVTC I'd get it in a heartbeat...
