GeorgeS Posted February 1, 2007 #1 Posted February 1, 2007 I received my New Set of Throttle cables for my 89 the other day, and they are Installed, Working Great. ---- Of Note: At the Carb, end, the New ones Have Vinal Inserts, I guess Yamaha took note of the Fraying at the #1 Carb hook up point. ---- Wether this will stop the Fraying problem, I don't know, but its worth takeing note of if you need to replace your throttle cables.
jdsauter Posted July 2, 2008 #2 Posted July 2, 2008 George, Did you install the cables? And did you have to remove the Fairing to do so?? J.D.
Guest byekryam Posted July 17, 2010 #4 Posted July 17, 2010 I have an 87 and the machanic took the bike apart to do some work and the cables are shot. He tried getting new ones but said they were no longer in existence. These are special cables because they go through the cruise control. My question is: Is there somewhere where I can get new cables? Does anyone have decent cables from a parts bike? Where do I get a parts/maintenence/ diagraphm book to trouble shoot the cruise control if not working correctly? Does anyone have a working cruise control from a parts bike? Thanks Woody Email to byekryam@aol.com
Freebird Posted July 17, 2010 #5 Posted July 17, 2010 I would be concerned about that mechanic. The cables are still available. There are many online dealers that list them and you could also check with Rick at http://www.buckeyeperformance.com
