lonestarmedic Posted April 27, 2008 #1 Posted April 27, 2008 I am looking for the trunk rack for my first gen. Mine is good but I want to modify one for a rear setback of about 2 inches. I am watching one on e-bay but don't want to get in a bidding war if it is someone who has a broken one. If anyone has such a critter, let me know if you want to sell it. JB

JB There are a couple of members who have one JB. I put out the same request about 2 months ago and had several members reply. I never took them up on their offers, because I decided to weld what I had back up.
Squidley Posted April 27, 2008 #3 Posted April 27, 2008 JB, Are you looking for the rack that the trunk sits on or the one you put a bag on top of the trunk....just so there is no confusion?
lonestarmedic Posted April 27, 2008 Author #4 Posted April 27, 2008 I have a great trunk. I am looking for the mounting bracket only. The piece that the trunk sits on. Not the accessory rack on the lid. JB
friesman Posted April 27, 2008 #5 Posted April 27, 2008 I have a lower rack kicking around somehere, Ive moved since the last time I saw it and some of my stuff is in storage. its off an 84 1st gen. I picked it up in case I would ever need it, but youre welcome to it, let me know.

JimRoberts Posted April 27, 2008 #7 Posted April 27, 2008 I think I can dig one up off an old wrecked bike I know about. Will have to wait until tomorrow to go check.
lonestarmedic Posted April 27, 2008 Author #9 Posted April 27, 2008 Black Owl came up with a rack. His offer was good so we just need to make the exchange. Thanks everyone. I will post my results on the rack project. JB
nowindinmyhair Posted April 28, 2008 #10 Posted April 28, 2008 My '84 doesn't have the accessory rack that sits on top of the rear luggage. Is this worth getting ? How much weight can it hold ? I am hoping to later put some speakers back there. Would the rack interfere ? How hard are they to get (availability and price) ?
