I had to put new rubber on my 2004 Kawasaki ZR-7S, so scoped out a highly recommended tire set for Sport Touring, with the emphases more on the Tour side of things.

 

(This is my 'other' bike...(smile)) The new and coming SVTC will have to make nice in the garage...lol!

I hear ya brother!!! When I bought Maggie the Bucket List Bike (my R1 shown in the vids below) from her previous owner she came to me with brand new - Carbon Fiber tires on her.. A buddy and I were out playing around on our bikes recently - he on his new 103 inch High Output motored new HD Ultra Low and me on my little 61inch motored R1 when a guy in a new Corvette went screaming by us. Maggie got caught in the Vettes tail wind and when her and I pulled up to his car window at 160 mph the driver of Vette gave us a and a ..

Later my buddy and I were standing in my driveway about the Vette incident when I looked down and noticed the pencil width exposure of carcass thread showing thru in the middle of Mags rear tire ,,, of course I was :scared::scared: when, like you I discovered the value of those Carbon Fibers..

I have never ever done "burn outs" with Maggie but have always been amazed that her puny little motor can break the rear tire loose easily in 4th gear when ya wick on it and even in 5th at 160 if you roll the spurs into her sides to hard you can feel the rear tire breaking loose.. I have a habit of being heavy with the spurs so I am sure this is the reason for the fairly early tire wear.. Having said all that,, I located a set of non Carbon Fiber tires that are "ZR"s (rated for high speed of sport bikes) that are well under $150 for the set and made by a company who I have lots of experience with on my Ventures (Full Bore tires - ever tried em Yam?).. Got em coming along with a pair of Paddock lifts just for Maggie..

You have one nice looking Sport Tour there! Ride it, to ride again, Puc!

 

I'm getting them delivered around the 16-18...and then am going to get them mounted. I'll take some shots when I get **CowFace** home. Yep..I name my bikes as well, lol! Gives them 'soul'... As soon as I get my 'red beauty' home, she is going to be christened by the name of 'Charlotte' That was my dear mother's name...and the last birthday card I ever got from her...(she died of a stroke...) was a picture of a Harley Davidson Sportster 900cc...and on the card, she wrote; "...whenever I see a motorcycle, I always think of you, darling. Happy Birthday, Joseph!". My mother died 2 months later, unexpectedly. So...Puc, ever since that card (which is still sitting on my fireplace in the den...) all of my Touring Class motorcycles, my GL1500 and GL1800 were named; **Charlotte**. So too...when that SVTC beauty shall come home, later this month's end.......so too! ) Her name plate is all set to go on the back of the tour trunk...to a place of honor.

 

BTW...you KILLED me with laughter, on that second vid. Gawd...you were having such fun...Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw! You go, guy! ))

 

Oh...never heard of Full Bore. Will check them out. You know though, that we up in the Great White Expansive, pay through the nose in the U.S. exchange rate...so usually everything is around 30 percent more, then, we have an HST tax in Ontario that slaps another round of insult, at 13%. We also tend to numb ourselves with some of the best beer on the planet...Canadian whatever...it dulls the HST, PST, I-OWE-YOU, YOU-OWE-US, and finally the Estate Tax...where they bring a truck to your house, and 12 government agents takes anything that shines, glitters, or moves. The only thing I think they leave you, is the mortgage balance. I don't think they take that...

Here's another shot of the prior; Charlotte...waiting at Gettysburg Battlefield. I went down there by myself, to visit the site..and had a ball touring Penn State, Maryland, and West Virginia, in early October. This was a great bike...and I hope the SVTC will carry on the 'family tradition'

Tip and I LOVE Gettysburg and, hopefully,,, someday in the future - plan to return to spend a BUNCH of time exploring the antique shops/Civil War museums in the area - like most other places, weeks instead of days are needed to really get to the bottom of things when dealing with something so deeply touching!! You find that too??

Speaking of time,,, if you ever get back out in the eastern states and are thinking of doing an east to west tour,,, give some thought to riding "50" from Ocean City to Sacramento!! As the sticker says - it's known as "The Loneliest Hiway In America" but it is actually an AWESOME ride on a bike!! Lots of great VR club members not to far off that trail either that I am SURE would love to make you and Charlottes aquaintance IRL too - THAT is always icing on the cake IMHO:thumbsup2:!!

Here's some shots of my same bike tour...but at Antietam National Battlefield: Can't imagine the horror that befell the rolling landscape on that fateful day. Took the 4 hour walking tour with tour guide, and is highly recommended! You learn so much, of what you are viewing...

As for asking me the question; For you too? Yes...I spent 3 hours alone in the Gettysburg Museum, walking from exhibit to exhibit. I so highly recommend to other riders, that this is a must tour, Gettysburg, Antietam, and do so if you can, in mid September, to early October...to start catching any colors that get painted, great accommodation rates and every restaurant has a table waiting for just YOU! Oh...one thing...be VERY CAREFUL in Maryland, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. They use the portable speed camera's EVERYWHERE...every back-water county road, where they think bikers might er...'enjoy' the ride. Be warned! It's not the troopers that you have to worry about...it's all the portable speed cameras they set up...and move around all the time!!!

Post Edit: Just my suggestion, that this is not a two-up, couple tour. For the time that the rider (usually the guy part of the relationship, lol) wants to really get in-depth at all the battlefields...might be, and is usually too much for the 'better half' unless she is as much into the subject of the tour, as you are. Just a suggestion. My wife has a dawdling interest in the Civil War..and in knowing that...we discussed my swinging on over to Penn, Maryland, and West Virginia on my own. It worked out, lol!
