ok , folks. i have read in here SEVERAL times that you can install the left side cover/stator cover, with the shifter linkage in the wrong position.

well that may work for some, but it DID NOT work for me!

after five attempts, i finally figured out WHICH PART of the linkage needed to be turned UP.

in the wrong position, mine would ALMOST mate up, but the last 1/8 th of an inch, was a no go.flipped the offending culprit up, and slick as a mink, it went right into place.i also noticed that the top right bolt hole, was just shy of perfect alignment, when the linkage was in the wrong position.

so check your linkages real close, the first time, and remember YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PUT ANY FORCE into the re-installation.

Perhaps your bushing in the side cover isn't worn enough to permit a reverse install........
