My understanding is that the KC plant was making the new 500c and 750cc Harley mid-weight bikes and that there was also a plant in India that was also making those bikes for the non-US markets.

So now if you are visiting India and see Harley tattoos on the 1% ers over there it really means something to them! I'll bet their leather sales aren't very high though, India is plenty hot.:225::12101:

And with a little digging into the history of HD you will find that they were made in JAPAN from 1034 to 1939 using a different name tag.

I forget what all models they use to make in KC. But now it says V-rod , which has not been a huge seller for HD and reportedly been on chopping block. The Sportster which I think they also make in another plant and a Dyna. I thought I read something back a year or so ago that they were scaling back production at that plant anyways. May have something to do with tax incentives running out too.

Since HD is a local company here in Milwaukee, we get a lot more scoop every time someone farts at Harley. The local news is reporting that the KC plant closing is because HD profits are down 80% from same period last year.

Gee I did not think the Yamaharley would hit them that hard..................:whistling:

Maybe, just maybe the arrogant $$________ will consider making their product affordable for their customer. So much focus (yama included) is structured for all these bells and whistles that 'us common folks' do not want, need, or do not want to afford. Besides all those bells and whistles break, and are costly to repair. I feel for those losing their jobs in KS, hopefully a better opportunity comes their way.
