M61A1MECH Posted January 27, 2018 #1 Posted January 27, 2018 (edited) A few years ago when I started making plug and play trailer harnesses for second generation Ventures, I had several requests to make one for various first generation Ventures. Due to unavailability of the 13 pin connector required, I could not supply a true "plug and play" version. I was recently approached again an offered a minimally invasive alternative harness. I designed the system using "Posi-Tap" connectors that pierce the insulation of the needed wires, these are much better and more secure that the traditional blue Scotch Loc pinch on type you get in the trailer wiring kits. If there is still interest here on the first gen side of the house for such a product, I would be happy to offer them in the members vendor section along side my other products. They would be similarly priced to my current offerings. Please let me know either by PM or reply to this thread and I will go from there. Thanks Edited January 29, 2018 by M61A1MECH

Flyinfool Posted January 29, 2018 #3 Posted January 29, 2018 I need to get a trailer hitch first then the trailer..... The harness that Steve is talking about is for the bike side trailer wiring, not the trailer itself.

Flyinfool Posted January 29, 2018 #5 Posted January 29, 2018 I know but why wire b4 get trailer Sent from my LG-K371 using Tapatalk To do the bike wiring before you get the trailer will make it easier to find a trailer cheap. If you wire the bike for a 5 wire trailer you will find great deals all over the place on 4 wire trailers, or if you wire the bike as 4 wire, you will be flooded with fantastic deals on 5 wire trailers....... And I am thinking of converting mine from 4 wire to 6 wire......
M61A1MECH Posted January 29, 2018 Author #6 Posted January 29, 2018 Well sometimes folks know exactly which trailer they are getting and how it is wired instead of waiting until they pick it up. That way they can have the bike pre-wired and pick the trailer up with the bike and have the lights work on the ride home.
snyper316 Posted January 29, 2018 #7 Posted January 29, 2018 Well where is the harness for our bikes, I technically am 5 wire right now but that harness is for my trunk Sent from my LG-K371 using Tapatalk
snyper316 Posted January 29, 2018 #8 Posted January 29, 2018 Would be interested to know how harness plugs in because I hate spliced wires Sent from my LG-K371 using Tapatalk
M61A1MECH Posted January 29, 2018 Author #9 Posted January 29, 2018 Well where is the harness for our bikes, I technically am 5 wire right now but that harness is for my trunk Would be interested to know how harness plugs in because I hate spliced wires Sent from my LG-K371 using Tapatalk I have not posted the GEN I harness to the classifieds yet, I was wanting to gauge the interest first. The harness does not "plug in" it uses "POSI-TAPS" which are minimally invasive taps that use a sharp pointed probe to pierce the insulation and reach the conductor. Much better that cutting and splicing, much better and simpler than window stripping the insulation and making a solder and tape joint and way better than those wretched blue Scotch-Lock guillotine type taps. I do make it so the Isolator/converter and the trailer harness can be unplugged and removed if needed and also give you 5 tag wires that you can splice into later for adding more lights without having to cut and splice. I have one made for a fellow member, I can take photos and post them if that would help. Here is a link to show you what POSI-TAPS are, http://www.cycleterminal.com/posi-lock-connectors.html Let me know what else I can do to help.
