baylensman Posted January 24, 2018 #1 Posted January 24, 2018 when I got my 07 RSV from the PO it still had about 5 months of warranty left, he told me the battery wasn't replaced yet. The was in 2012. It was a little cold this am and the bike didn't catch on the first try to start, i was low on gas, and didn't realize it at first. I hit the start again and feathered the throttle and the mixture knob and it didn't catch again. I flipped to reserve and didn't have enough juice left to turn it over a third time. So i'm guessing its done. It should have a bit more reserve than three starts? I'll charge it up tonite when i get home and baby it till the weekend i guess, then off to wallyfworld for a battery or maybe oreilly.
RDawson Posted January 24, 2018 #2 Posted January 24, 2018 10+ years on a battery? Don't know if I've ever got 10 years out of two.
mabeline Posted January 25, 2018 #3 Posted January 25, 2018 I bought my 08 RSV in May of 08. Still have the original battery. It's on a tender when ever it's in the garage. Still worked well last summer, but I think I'm on borrowed time. I will be replacing it this winter.
RonK Posted July 4, 2020 #4 Posted July 4, 2020 -- I know you're talking bikes, but the two blue top deep cycle batteries on my pickup camper are 25 years old. I keep a tender on them all the time when not using. --
