Christmas is different this year

Oddly enough I have had people from many different religions wish me a Merry Christmas and do not ever recall any of them saying Happy Holiday's to me. For one thing I do not think many of them do not see Christmas as offensive because it does not conflict with similar celebrations of other beliefs because the various celebrations do not actually fall on the same date. Ironically the ones I do get Happy Holiday from are usually either silly political correct people or non religious people of our own culture. One person at work prefers to wish everyone A happy Ho Ho which I personally find some what irritating, It's Christmas. Remember when Merry Xmas was popular. I did not care for that either.

 

I respect other peoples beliefs and cultures, as long as they are non violent and only wish for the same respect in return.

I think other countries & cultures can be tolerant of "foreign" customs or religions. BUT I don't see any of them saying they shouldn't celebrate (or should tone down) their OWN religion or customs for fear of "offending the foreign contingent".

& let's face it I think it's only Western style, predominantly Christian countries that have these huge influxes of immigrants from other cultures. You don't see those influxes in eastern, communist etc countries.

I'm pretty sure it's only Western cultures that have this ridiculous political correctness, brought to us mostly by liberal (leftist) politicians.

I've noticed that too. My theory is that free and happily content people are very accepting of foreign differences which also translates to those who disparage the religions of others and I would go so far as to say those who have a racist bias are not happy and are looking for someone to blame for it.

Yes, you don't see many refugees fleeing to Communist or Islamic countries. I don't think that is about the people so much as the politics of those countries... freedom is probably the most important thing for happiness but prosperity likely runs a close second.

I honestly believe its just us. We have what I believe are a bunch of silly Nannies so paranoid of being labelled Racist when in fact the Whole North American Continent has welcomed more immigration and offered greater religious freedom than any other country in the world. Though there are some Racists, and nothing is perfect there is no reason why we need to bend over backwards to prove ourselves. Some steps taken such as hiring quotas, reduced passing standards for anyone who is not a white male and some rights marches actually fuel Racism rather than help elevate it.
