Cb radio rebuild

When I started rebuilding my audio system I realized that the screen had a layer of film that was pealing off under the face. Has anyone else come across this

No...but my 89 has some dark spots on the corners of the displays. I figure that's old age on the panels....??

I will throw the radio back in soon and see if that layer was important. If it is I will try th find something that will work in place of it.
