Guest kozman01 Posted April 24, 2008 #1 Posted April 24, 2008 Well, I have been having second thoughts about my 07 Venture for quite some time and finally made the decision to trade it in. My wife is starting to get interested in her own bike so I figured I could make this a win-win situation. Not so much. I had in place a deal to trade in my 07 Venture for a new 06 Honda ST1300 for me and a new 07 Honda VLX Deluxe for my wife. I was getting a very, very good deal from Toledo East in Toledo, OH. Was in the garage lastnight and made the comment to my wife that I have to get the Venture preped to take to the dealer. She asked "why"? I said because I'm trading it in for the two new bikes. Her comment was, "You can go buy me the one I want, but that one isn't going anywhere, it's too comfortable and I like it". So, needless to say, I said fine, changed the oil and installed my levelling links. Now maybe my first Yamaha will want to stay at home since my wife likes it so much and not want to spend so much time at the dealership getting worked on. The hangman's noose is put away and I have become re-dedicated to my Venture once again:) AND I don't have to be subject to the wrath of my wife and let me tell you, she has plenty of wrath to go around but seems to only spend it on me:) Hope to see some of your guys out this summer.

royalstarjac Posted April 24, 2008 #4 Posted April 24, 2008 That settles that........... Women have a way of making up a mans mind...fast... Ever had your wife say "whatever you want dear..."? Ya right! Nothing like giving a man enough rope!-Jack:rotf:
wolfman1 Posted April 24, 2008 #5 Posted April 24, 2008 My wife reminds me from time to time, usually when I forget, that my response to most everything is supposed to be ... "Yes, Dear" . Steve
BoomerCPO Posted April 24, 2008 #6 Posted April 24, 2008 I have owned many different bikes over the years. None of them has given me the riding pleasure that my Venture does. Yes she can be unforgiving if you disrespect her, but what bike is not that way? My wife does not ride but she certainly rules the roost at home and I'm comfortable with that. I could not tolerate a woman who was completely dependent upon me to make all the decisions. Independence is a great thing....especially when you are solo on the bike and not driving Miss Daisy.
Long Tall Posted April 24, 2008 #7 Posted April 24, 2008 Hey Man....Sort of same thing happened to me....I/We were riding a Triumph Bonneville America for about three year....I did most of the riding, but wife loved to go two up... So...in 2006 we make three trips to NC with some friends...He/They ride a Road King... Jan..2007 rolls around and I take her to look at an 06 Venture....She says we can get it..."SHE LOVED THE COMFORTABLE RIDE"....So I go and make a deal to trade in the Triumph...2002 Black..Perfect...Their 100 Anniversary year Bike... Tell the wife the Deal and she says...NO WAY are we trading in the Triumph...I say why not.... OK...in the course of ownership she discovered that Triumph back in the day was THE BIKE...Steve McQueen jumping the fence in the Great Escape and All....NOW shes an EXPERT on Motorcycles.....After her comment....I said..."WHATEVER YOU WANT TO DO DEAR... The walked outside...fell to my knees and said....THANK YOU GOD! :cool10::cool10:

This was done by McQueen's friend Bud Ekins, who was managing a Los Angeles-area motorcycle shop when recruited for the stunt. It was the beginning of a new career for Ekins, as he later doubled for McQueen in Bullitt (1968) and did much of the motorcycle riding on the television series "CHiPs" (1977). Dray
