Condor Posted October 21, 2017 #1 Posted October 21, 2017 I just bought these at an local auction. I'm not much of a handgun guy, but after the last go-around it looks like I may be changing... Here are some pics. The thing that's special about the Rugers is that they are 2 NIB matched sets of Buckeye Combo Specials in 32--20 and 38-40. I bought the first Ruger Blackhawk 32-20 in the first auction, and then when looking at the pics of the second auction it was WHOA!! time. That and one of the guns had a serial number very close to the first Ruger. Did some research and discovered the story behind the Buckeyes. So I did some playing around and trading with another bidder and ended up with all four Rugers. The deal with the Buckeyes is Ruger made a special run for a distributor in Ohio, and they made 'same' serial number sets available to their customers if they were so inclined. These are new in the box and pretty rare. The last one is a Colt Trooper III. I have the Trooper II and figured why not?? It's also new in the box. So into the safe they go... :-) So since I traded off a Vaquero 44-40 to complete the 2 sets, and I ran across this Colt Bisley 44-40 listed in an auction in Ohio, so I figured again.... It's from the same era as my 1874 Sharps 45-70, Same case hardened frame and receiver, and even though they aren't the same caliber they do make a great period set... Now I need to crawl into a corner with some bread and water for a few months until I can afford something better to eat...
gmarshall Posted October 21, 2017 #2 Posted October 21, 2017 32-20 is an odd caliber. If you intended to shoot it you may have a hard time finding ammo.

Actually they're available all over the place since Cowboy shooting became popular. Since I like to have ammo for ever caliber I own I just picked up 44-40,38-40, and 32-20 from MidwayUSA. And in each caliber was stocked in several different flavors. Even the 32-20.... Cabella's had them too...

It's better to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission You got that right... :-) Although since my wife pasted 5 years ago I only have to answer to my conscience sitting on my shoulders...
