friesman Posted April 24, 2008 #1 Posted April 24, 2008 I am looking for footboards/floorboards for my 1st gen VR but am having difficulty finding something I know will work. There are so many floorbards out there but out rides are getting old enough that theyre not included in the listing on what will fit anymore. Any suggestions ideas? Just got out bid on a pair on ebay that were markland brand but I cant find any info on them either. Thanks for all your ideas in advance.
hipshot Posted April 24, 2008 #2 Posted April 24, 2008 Brian. good luck in your quest for floorboards. be ready to part with some SERIOUS $$$$, if you find a set for sale! just jt
PA RIDER Posted April 24, 2008 #3 Posted April 24, 2008 .]You do need the boards. But you need the brake peddle and shifter link, ECT. To makethem work. I have boards on my 83. LOVE THEM.! PA RIDER.
lonestarmedic Posted April 24, 2008 #4 Posted April 24, 2008 Make sure you are looking at the correct items. The Marklands on e-bay were highway boards. A derivative of highway pegs. True floorboards go in place of your footpegs and usually come with a different brake pedal and heel-toe shifter system. The other type-highway fasten to the crash bars and are used out on the road as an alternative foot position. All a matter of terminology. Had a guy once call a windscreen/windshield a fairing. Said the bike had a new fairing. Actually had a new windshield and a very broken fairing. JB
lonestarmedic Posted April 24, 2008 #5 Posted April 24, 2008 Forgot- there aren't any companies that currently produce a floorboard/heel-toe shifter kit for the first generation. Used only. I have seen them go from $300-$500 on ebay. JB
Condor Posted April 24, 2008 #6 Posted April 24, 2008 There are two different floorboards available used. Markland and Venture Line. IMHO the Venture lines are a lot better looking and have the same board configuration as the venture line passenger boards that are so common. The board on the VL is triangular in shape and the Marklands are more oval. Plus I'm not sure Markland made heel/toe/brake pedals??
Condor Posted April 25, 2008 #8 Posted April 25, 2008 This Is My 83, Are Those Markland boards ? Yep,they're Markland....

Floorboards with heel/toe shifter, links and all. You can email me at oreo.cookie49@gmail.com. They are for an 87 yamaha venture royale. These are originals in great shape. We have two yamaha's, the 87 and an 85. Don't need both sets of floorboards since we put a voyager kit on the 87. Will send photo's to your email address if interested. Rainy

silvercrew Posted April 28, 2008 #11 Posted April 28, 2008 I just finished making the front and rear for my bike. I used the harley davidson flamed floor board inserts and made a underplate for them. I also made the shifter and brake pedel to match the floor boards. So far I like them way better than the pegs.
