Well gas mileage is down to 28-30 at 65-70mph. Used to be 40-45mph. It smells like gas and I smell like gas riding it.

havent done anything to it. Last week I cleaned the air filter, K&N, installed new plugs, changed oil. Didn't change a thing. Today I Pulled the carbs and will set the float levels and check the jets. Also the enrichment diaphragm and piston diaphragm are all good. I really expected to find them bad. It is 16-17 years old. If anyone can think of anything else while I'm there, I'd appreciate it very much. No gas leaks, oil level is not over full.

Is this the right place to measure float hight? There is a hump next to this, but I'm measuring to the flat part on the edge.

Well looks like all the floats were set from .253-.264. I set them all to .335. I guess we'll see. Have to sync the carbs

then go ride.

All together and running. Before with it running in my shop, especially when cold and using the choke, within just a short while it would burn your eyes with fumes. I let it run about 15 minutes on the lift while checking everything out. No burning eyes or gas smell. Yay!!!!

Got the carbs synced and a set of Road King mufflers installed. Louder than I thought, but sounds like a V8 while idling.😀 Going to go ride today. I hope my gas mileage is back.

Just got back. 159.6 miles, 3.92 gallons of gas, equals 40.7 MPG. Hell yes.

Did a childhood cancer ride Sunday. Filled up just prior to kickstands up. Went 183.6 miles before my odometer clicked to zero to start the upcount. Never had went that far before without the odometer change and fuel light coming on. Filled up and for that tank was 43.2 MPG (filled up a 191 miles). I felt like pulling a Cozmo Cramer and seeing how far I could go, but it had done gotten dark and the old lady was surely wondering what was taking me so long.

Until I had to get a new phone, I was tracking my fill ups in a phone app. Last I remember checking, I was averaging 38.x MPG for over 29k miles. But, most of my driving is interstate at 75 to 85 mph.

A friend of mine rides a 2012 Harley Electraglide. And most of the the time we get exactly the same mileage. We ride 60-65 but ever once in a while we'll kick em up yo 75-80. But we still get about the same, but a lot less than normal. On our trip to Sturgis this year he beat me from.5-.7 tenth gallon every fill up. We should be closer now.
