Venturous Randy Posted September 6, 2017 #1 Posted September 6, 2017 It is supposed to be down in the 40's tonight here in east Tennessee and our daytime temps are 10 to 15 degrees below normal. This is normally the time we enjoy camping, but it is going to have to warm up first. Last year we camped almost a week down at Hunting Island State Park, north of Hilton Head, SC, in early October and it was hot. Then a week later Hurricane Matthew came thru and tore it all to pieces and looking at the early tracking of Irma, it may be on the same track. But. I guess there is not a good track for Irma unless it takes a sharp right turn and heads back out in the Atlantic and it does not look like that is going to happen. I hope everyone stays safe and I will quit fussing about it being too cool. Randy
cowpuc Posted September 6, 2017 #2 Posted September 6, 2017 Right there with Rand,,, something that endlessly amazes me about retirement is how much faster time seems to disappear.. IMHO, when I was a kid it seemed like days would drag on like years... Like a ride around the block on my peddley bike took weeks to complete when in fact it was just a mere 6 hour journey between lunch and supper.. Nowadays it seems like a whole summer just went by like the swoosh of a healthy summer breeze = mere seconds have passed.. That is one of the reasons I have switched over to doing a LOT of videoing of our lives.. Having a chance to go back and replay some special times shared between two best friends is turning into one way of slowing things down some,, at least IMHO... On another note = Prayers Up for all those facing the fangs of Irma down yonder!! Gods speed my friends!!!
BlueSky Posted September 6, 2017 #3 Posted September 6, 2017 Those hurricanes coming in on that trajectory have a habit of turning, coming up the coast to hit Wilmington directly. 4 times at least the eye of hurricanes have come over my home since I moved here. Usually they slow down a bit before getting this far north though. Those 4 have been either cat 1,2, and 3.
etcswjoe Posted September 6, 2017 #4 Posted September 6, 2017 Y'all can come down and ride Irma out with us, or better yet we will pack up the cats and come stay with y'all..

You're right Puc & here's an explanation about all that time flying by... think about it, when you were a young scallywag (not that you ever were) LOL say 6 years old; one year was a 6th of your lifetime. Now at 60 one year is a 60th of your lifespan & so seems to whizz by in a blink of the proverbial eye. Ten times as fast as when you were that little kid! Personally I don't like it, life is flying by far too quickly!

Sure hope when we get this place painted and fixed we can move up that way. Doing a bunch of supply gettin for the hurricane coming.
Kretz Posted September 7, 2017 #9 Posted September 7, 2017 Whether summer is over or not I wish all of you in possible distress due to these freaky, scary, weather systems all the very best, praying for good things for you all. Sheesh some States & Provinces are burning up others are freezing or flooded out... crazy. Be safe all! Here in BC we have smoke from fires again, really bad air quality, thoughts go out to all those affected by floods, fires, hurricanes etc.
