Gary N. Posted August 26, 2017 #1 Posted August 26, 2017 A thought has popped into my head. Don't laugh it happens every now and then. I'm wondering if the New Venture (Gen III) might be desirable to some police departments? Since Victory is no more maybe there will be an opening for Yamaha to move into that market. Probably not a very big market but it's there. I know that the buy American thing will influence a lot of police departments but I don't think all of them. I believe Honda, Kawasaki, and BMW have all made some police bikes and sold them in the U.S. market.
Flyinfool Posted August 26, 2017 #3 Posted August 26, 2017 While it has a fairly high alternator output, with all of the electronic do dads already there, I wonder just how much is left for add ons? I never saw any mention of just how much power the bike needs. EFI is power hungry, antilock/traction control is a power monster, heated seats and grips devour power, etc etc
cowpuc Posted August 26, 2017 #4 Posted August 26, 2017 EXCELLENT IDEA GARY,,, ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT!!! That would be the greatest win win of all time.. 1st win would be Mom Yam selling the bikes,, second would be,,,,, lets see,,, hard to explain,, maybe a picture story with ":moped: = + new Venture" and ":bikersmilie: = Tip, Tweeks and Puc"... Here we go: ,,,, = what was that?,,,,, :bikersmilie:,,,,, = bike 31 to headquarters do you read me over,,,, go ahead 31,,, = need to report UFM ( unidentified flying motorcycle) - never did see nuttin like it - 4x faster then this thing you gave me,,,, :bikersmilie::bikersmilie:,,, = there it goes again,,, I got it on radar but unable to respond on present vehicle,,,, = wait,,,,, wait,, think its coming back,,, ,,,,, = never mind HQ = 2 kids in VW,, gonna pursue,, no idea what happened to ,, probably in next state,,, what ever UFM was - same should still be available as new.. The End :bikersmilie::bikersmilie::bikersmilie::bikersmilie::bikersmilie::bikersmilie::bikersmilie::bikersmilie::bikersmilie:

The police in Victoria went over to the Victory after using the Honda ST1300 for 5 or 6 years. Be interesting to see if they will go for the Yamaharley even though they are not necessarily stuck on the idea of a V-Twin. I know there was some issue with the electrics on the Victory but don't know any specifics. They were considered to be a bit too loud and eventually had the mufflers replaced.
