Statussymbol Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 I would like to know who here has mounted driving lights on their crashbars? What size? and if they have pics please post. Leaving my options open for ideas other than the light bar. I have highway pegs on the bars ATM and would probably have to lower them but they are configurable, will post a pic of bike if I can get it to upload so you can get an idea of what I'm working with. Thanks. Stat
Marcarl Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 If you mount the lights that low you will limit their usefulness. Lights need to shine down on the road to light the road surface, so if they are mounted low most of the usable light will be lighting the trees. In the daytime you also want to stay off the road surface so you can be seen, too low and all the light will go un-noticed.
bongobobny Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 I have a pair mounted on the underside of my floorboards, I drilled and tapped holes to screw them in. Their function is to light up the road directly in front of me mostly for foggy conditions. Keep in mind, though, I have a trike and don't scrape my pegs... If I get a chance I'll snap a picture, but I'm really busy with the WNY rally...
djh3 Posted August 17, 2017 Posted August 17, 2017 I had a pair like these mounted on my crash bars just above the clamps for the highway pegs. I have a pair just like them mounted on my Victory now. They work pretty well with an extra light looking towards me for cages to see me. And they supply light at night when aimed right towards the road and the edge where I put them. Being LED they don't suck a lot of power either. If you get them off e-bay sort thru as there are different lumens (brightness) available.
