Problem is the vent tubing off the carb is plugged and holding air pocket in the carb and forcing the gas to "spring" out the air inlet jet. Does not let the float rise and pressures the gas up and out. Had the same problem on an 85 I was working on about 3 month ago and drove me nuts. Found the hose was plugged. You could first check by removing the vent hose and see if that fixes the problem.

That hat was the issue!!!! I took the hose off and it didn't do it anymore. I blew into the tube and it was clogged up. Wow.

Glad it was an easy fix.

Now check the oil again to be sure the excess gas is not in the oil. also be sure no gas is in the cylinders before you try to start it, (pull plugs and crank it over) you do not want a hydro lock.
