cbrow62 Posted July 29, 2017 #1 Posted July 29, 2017 Hi everyone i was looking for some advice on changing out my motor on my 2000 Yamaha Venture Royal Star. I recently had some bad luck in after I had my carbs rebuilt at a Yamaha dealership after about 500 km on the rebuilt carbs I went to start the bike. The bike had been sitting for a few weeks and when I went to start it the starter seem to hit hard and a loud knock. After it started I now had a tapping engine noise. I had it towed to a shop and they informed me a connect rod was now bent due to gas in the motor possibly due to a leaky seal in the carb. Ugh. Anyway I was wondering if a 2012 Yamaha Royal Star Venture would fit my 2000 bike. The motors look the same but before I buy it was wanting some input. Thank you
M61A1MECH Posted July 29, 2017 #2 Posted July 29, 2017 Yes it will fit, all Venture and late model Tour Deluxe (2005 to 2010) motors are the same. Only difference is some where they changed the fake fins from silver to black.
mindt Posted August 7, 2017 #3 Posted August 7, 2017 Well have fun with all that. I just got done doing the exact same thing. Same problem too. Does the new motor come with carbs? If so you will have to change the TPS plug as they are different. I swapped out the ground wire and spliced in the other. Also, the stator wire and neutral safety wire are the same plug, just slightly different colors that was my first mistake. And don't run the bike without the lowers. Good luck , any problems just ask, as I said I literally just got mine on the road last Friday.
