Trash Man Posted July 27, 2017 #1  Posted July 27, 2017 Went to Texas over the weekend and brought back 2000 RSV. A Cohple of Questions : 1. 🔊 Sound (Speakers(/Radio) Front Speakers were just OK, rear speakers not loud at all. Has a Factory Cassette Player. what do y'all recommend in this department for big upgrade on Speakers and would like to replace Cassette w a CD Radio instead. Would this be possible as it looks like their would be a considerable amount of cutting to install a New Radio where Cassette Player now is. !?!? 2. Exhaust Bike rides and handles great but is very very quite. To Quite for me. I know Monster Ovals will wake it up but are to expensive. Will I see a noticeable difference in changing Slip on Mufflers!?!? Would prefer a much louder tone. Suggestions please.
cowpuc Posted July 27, 2017 #2 Â Posted July 27, 2017 Hey Trash - wassup... WELCOME to VR and CONGRATS on the new scoot!! Hope it brings ya many ah smile per mile brother!! Never have owned one of the newer ones like your scootin on now so I probably wont be much help.. I do recall though hearing of guys picking up left over muffs from Harleys and stickin em on their RSV's.. Not sure it was on our site, probably was, where someone was selling some form of mount for making the transfer... I am sure someone will chime in here who knows WAYYYY more bout that than I do.. Personally,, I like my Ventures quiet as a mouse so when I go flyin by those unsuspecting victims while out CTFW (thats code for Chasing The Front Wheel) they end up looking at their buddies and saying stuff like - "You see dat???? Was dat a UFO?".. I also like to be able to sneak into areas in the middle of night, drop my tent, get some sleep and leave with no one even knowing I was there - sneaky bugger I am.. No diff,, even if ya go loud - if ya see a sticker covered beat up ol Venture with Antelope Horns on it - stop me and shake my paw - always looking to make new aquantences!! PS - heres a pic of Tweeks my 83... Now your obligated to show off your new scoot!! Puc
RandyR Posted July 27, 2017 #3  Posted July 27, 2017 There are several threads in the Tech Tips section on mufflers. Here's one http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?98905-Gave-up-on-Monsters-and-bought-RK-pipes&highlight=muffler . Re: cassette. What most people do is wire in a mini-audio female plug, and put a .mp3 player in a tank bag Did you get one of the 2000 Cream/Tan Millenium Edition bikes, or one of the red 2000's? You'll need to post a picture.
baylensman Posted July 27, 2017 #4 Â Posted July 27, 2017 Remember the rear speakers have their own volume control on the Left had side. as well as a fader control on the handle bar mounted control I run mine at R4 to get the balance right at speed. After that ITS ONLY ROCK AND ROLL FOR ME
The Tooch Posted July 27, 2017 #5 Â Posted July 27, 2017 Remember the rear speakers have their own volume control on the Left had side. as well as a fader control on the handle bar mounted control I run mine at R4 to get the balance right at speed. After that ITS ONLY ROCK AND ROLL FOR MEÂ It's awhile since I played around with an RSV system but I believe the volume control on the left side of the trunk only controls the passenger volume when a headset is plugged into the rear passenger headset jack, not the rear speakers. (I could be wrong?!) Â You might want to check the settings for the fad balance between the front and rear speakers, the fad may be set up for more volume to come out of the front speakers rather than the rears. You can balance it to your preference front to rear with the controller on the left handle bar. That being said, the 4 inch speakers aren't the best sound either way and I don't think anyone has ever really found a good replacement speaker for them.
bongobobny Posted July 27, 2017 #6  Posted July 27, 2017 Check where the "Fade" is set on the radio controller.  People have changed the radio out but there are some issues to address. The radio needs to be a Marine grade radio. You will lose your intercom and CB radio functions unless you use the marine grade radio as a stand alone with its own separate speakers. Speaking of speakers, the very best thing to do is replace those under-performing stock speakers with some good coax 4" speakers. There are several options for these from Polk, Kenwood, etc. They will sound sooo much better! Problem being, the audio system itself is a little anemic so it sounds best in a parking lot and not while riding... As far as the exhaust goes, the poor man's fix is to simply drill small holes in the back area around the actual exhaust opening until you reach the desired sound level. That back area surrounding the actual exhaust opening is really where the baffle is located. The exhaust travels from the inlet to the rear area and then back up to the front via the baffles then out the exhaust, or something like that... WELCOME ABOARD!!!
XV1100SE Posted July 27, 2017 #7  Posted July 27, 2017 ....the volume control on the left side of the trunk only controls the passenger volume when a headset is plugged into the rear passenger headset jack, not the rear speakers. .... True
