uthpda Posted April 22, 2008 #1 Posted April 22, 2008 Well...I went out this morning to ride to work...get on the mike thinking that it needs to be washed (to busy riding) and as I am getting ready to fire her up....I feel something give and over she goes...a controlled decent! My kickstand broke! Both the bolt and the kickstand itself! What miserable thing to happen at the being in the day!!! So now I am on a hunt for a kickstand...anyone got one that will look good on a fast, red 84???
SilvrT Posted April 22, 2008 #2 Posted April 22, 2008 That happened to me as well with my '85. I was parked at a bike shop checkking out new scoots...getting some goodies, etc.... went to get on the scoot...swung my leg over and plunked myself down on the seat... **SNAP** ... over I went. Musta been 10 guys milling around watching me LOL ... well at least a couple of them came over and helped get my scoot back up. the trick after that was when I got home...had to dismount while keeping the scoot balanced and then get it onto the centre stand.
Venturous Randy Posted April 23, 2008 #3 Posted April 23, 2008 I had a problem with mine because I let the bolt get loose. Let's use this thread as a reminder to check your side stand on your 1st gens, and probably 2nd gens. I have made this suggestion before because it is a PIA to try to manage it with only a center stand. RandyA
uthpda Posted April 23, 2008 Author #4 Posted April 23, 2008 I found a stand on ebay (the source for everything) and now I wait. i am looking forward to being able to get on and off without paranoia of drop my bike! I agree, check those bolts... not having a sidestand is no fun!
Gene-b Posted April 23, 2008 #5 Posted April 23, 2008 Hey Guys! Looks to me like those old 1st Gen's are just geting tired and are looking for a nice place to lay down and take a nap:stirthepot:
uthpda Posted April 23, 2008 Author #6 Posted April 23, 2008 well...at least the 1st gen go fast enough to tell they are stopped...the 2nd don't go fast enough to get tired and if they lay down to stop...they are soooo slow you couldn't tell! :stirthepot:
