10spd Posted July 24, 2017 #1 Posted July 24, 2017 About how long should it take to change the starter on my 1988 VR Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
stanG Posted July 24, 2017 #2 Posted July 24, 2017 Assuming you are a competent wrencher, I guess about two to three hours. The starter is the easiest part but to get at it you need to remove all the lower plastics, the right front exhaust pipe, drain the radiator and remove the hose from the bottom of the radiator before you have enough clearance to get it out of there. You may also need to apply some gentle persuasion to break it free of the lower case if it hasn't been out in while. I did one for a friend on an 89 this spring and I think it was about two and a half hours to get it all bottled up, coolant back in and running.
