hunter 1500 Posted July 18, 2017 #1 Posted July 18, 2017 I have 62 k on the bike and now I need to replace the clutch again. I got Skydoc's clutch kit before and it has worked well. Where can I find this to replace it.
M61A1MECH Posted July 18, 2017 #2 Posted July 18, 2017 Try this link, http://www.venturerider.org/forum/photopost/showproduct.php?product=62&title=second-gen-heavy-duty-clutch-spring-26amp-3b-full-disc-upgrade-kit&cat=17 He is on the Vendor Member section of the classified forum.
Flyinfool Posted July 18, 2017 #3 Posted July 18, 2017 You wore out 2 clutches in 62K miles? Something is not right.
hunter 1500 Posted July 19, 2017 Author #4 Posted July 19, 2017 You wore out 2 clutches in 62K miles? Something is not right. I tow a trailer quite a lot and I ride hard. It is starting to slip when I really get on to it.
hunter 1500 Posted July 19, 2017 Author #5 Posted July 19, 2017 Are there adjustments to the clutch to stop the slipping without replacing it?
slowrollwv Posted July 19, 2017 #6 Posted July 19, 2017 There is no adjustments on the clutch as I know of. It is a hydraulic clutch. Have you thought about a Barnet clutch replacement?
M61A1MECH Posted July 19, 2017 #7 Posted July 19, 2017 Another obvious question is; What oil are you using? On my 98 Tour Classic, I had problems with clutch slippage when I used Yamalube oil, I switched to Honda oil and slipping went a way until the friction plates needed changing.
hunter 1500 Posted July 19, 2017 Author #8 Posted July 19, 2017 I'm using Shell Rotella T6. I used it my Suzuki Intruder 1500 for 60 k and never replaced the clutch once. I didn't pull a trailer then though.
bongobobny Posted July 19, 2017 #9 Posted July 19, 2017 Flying Fool, for some odd reason the clutches in the 2nd generation don't seem to hold up as well as the first generation clutch did, and towing a lot or as in my case converting to a trike seems to kill them faster. Have you tried the PCW heavy duty clutch spring or stacking two clutch springs yet?? Earl, Skydoc_17 sells the PCW springs. I do agree with the Barnett setup as a better fix albeit more expensive! Also, did you replace the half area clutch disc with the optional Yamaha heavy duty full-size disc the last time??
RedRider Posted July 20, 2017 #10 Posted July 20, 2017 Go with the Barnett spring set up. The problem is the spring, not the actual clutch plates/steels. I was going through clutches every 30k miles or so until I put in the Barnett. Using the heavy duty springs, I have about 60k without any slippage. 156k miles on it now. RR

It only slips in the 3rd and 4th gear if I really getting on to it.
