SilvrT Posted April 21, 2008 Share #1 Posted April 21, 2008 I'm wondering if those shiny covers found on the RSTD and/or the RSV would fit a 1st gen 1300 engine. I'm referring to things like the clutch cover, water pump, etc and how about those "fake fins" ... would they fit on a 1st gen? anyone know? pegscraper Posted April 23, 2008 Share #3 Posted April 23, 2008 I saw this yesterday, and nope, I don't. A friend of mine here had an '86 up until a couple years ago. But now I don't know anyone who has a 1st gen where I can go compare things. I'm doubting the fake engine fins will fit though. Don't you have a bunch of plastic covers in that area? All I can suggest is to go to a dealer where you can look at a new one and see what fits.
Freebird Posted April 23, 2008 Share #4 Posted April 23, 2008 I don't see how the fins would fit. At the very least it would require some drilling and tapping for the bolts but I also think it would take some machining on the heads. As for the covers, I saw this question yesterday also but am not sure enough about what I THINK is the answer. I THINK the answer is no but only because I remember this being discussed long ago and thought that was the answer. I've never tried it myself. SilvrT Posted April 23, 2008 Author Share #5 Posted April 23, 2008 Thanks guys for your feedback. I was just wondering about this coz if a guy came upon a trashed 2nd gen that had those covers it would be nice to swap them onto a 1st gen (if the guy so happened to have one) As for the "fake fins", that was a long shot and yes, the side covers of the bike would cover them up even if one could install them. pegscraper Posted April 24, 2008 Share #6 Posted April 24, 2008 If you want all these 2nd gen accessories, maybe you should just get a 2nd gen.
