oldschoolcool Posted June 5, 2017 #1 Posted June 5, 2017 Yes that is right another starter clutch getting fixed! So I got everything apart and getting ready to order up stuff. But need a lil help! For the parts I need for the starter clutch I see these two on ebay (this is going on an 87 Venture Royale) #1 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Starter-Clutch-Gasket-Yamaha-Venture-Royal-XVZ1200-1983-1989-XVZ1300-1986-1993-/231611522167 and #2 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Heavy-Duty-Starter-Clutch-Yamaha-VMAX-XVZ-1200-1300-VMX12-Venture-Royale-Vision/381316412272 For those that have ordered these is the price difference worth it in your opinion to get one over the other? And the question about the middle gear: I never saw a copper crush washer when removing the cover. Does anyone the best place to order the right one? And also to order a gasket for the middle cover? Thank you in advance for any help fellow riders'
Marcarl Posted June 5, 2017 #2 Posted June 5, 2017 If you decide to use one of the two you have posted, I would go with the more expensive one.
Flyinfool Posted June 5, 2017 #3 Posted June 5, 2017 Interesting, Both of those Ebay starter clutches only come with one of the 2 gaskets that you will need. The first one still only has 3 rollers just like the stock one. The second one has 6 rollers, better, but not near as good as it gets. If you contact member @Dano, he does a starter clutch rebuild that includes all of the needed parts, and he converts it to an 18 roller starter clutch. I have the second one that he ever did and it works great. This system was invented for the guys thar are building a LOT more power into these engines on the V-Max's, where they were breaking the stock setups very often trying to turn over their high compression engines.

Flyinfool Posted November 15, 2017 #5 Posted November 15, 2017 Last I heard he was still doing these. You might want to send him a PM and/or an email.
