Zumo/XM hook up

I'm looking at placing the antenna/radio part at the back of my bike. I would run the cable under the seat. Problem: I like to take this with me in my car as well. Question: Can I splice a connector in the cable? Something like a PL259, male and female.

Thanks :detective:

I don't know how many little wires are in the cable, but any wire can be cut and spiced so I would say yes.

Go ahead and cut it, after that let us know the outcome. Any thing new has to first be tried by someone, you could be that someone....

Good luck with it.

When I bought my antenna it came with a six foot extension cable. There must be a part number for it, try calling a radio supply store. Also, I was wondering since the cable is a USB cable a computer or electronics store should have one that will work.

I am checking the same thing. The hookup is USB. The wiring isn't coax. The XM receiver is in the antenna and then sends the information to the unit. So, it stands to reason that it has a power, ground, and a set of signal wires. I will let you know if I find an answer.
