Problem: I like to take this with me in my car as well. Question: Can I splice a connector in the cable? Something like a PL259, male and female. Thanks I don't know how many little wires are in the cable, but any wire can be cut and spiced so I would say yes. Go ahead and cut it, after that let us know the outcome. dragerman Posted April 21, 2008 Share #4 Posted April 21, 2008 When I bought my antenna it came with a six foot extension cable. There must be a part number for it, try calling a radio supply store. DkKnight Posted April 21, 2008 Share #5 Posted April 21, 2008 I have heard that it is not a good idea to splice any of the sat radio antenna cables. Usually they give you a pretty good run of it. lonestarmedic Posted April 22, 2008 Share #9 Posted April 22, 2008 I am checking the same thing. The hookup is USB. The wiring isn't coax. The XM receiver is in the antenna and then sends the information to the unit. So, it stands to reason that it has a power, ground, and a set of signal wires. I will let you know if I find an answer.
