Skid Posted May 18, 2017 #1 Posted May 18, 2017 After a day of riding my clutch went soft. So it was time to start searching. After removing the top of the reservoir I discovered the fluid level was low. Not a good sign. I'm not sure where it went but maybe then darn gremlins drank it.
BlueSky Posted May 18, 2017 #2 Posted May 18, 2017 Leaky clutch cylinder most likely. Just check it often and keep it full enough to work.

Skid Posted May 19, 2017 Author #4 Posted May 19, 2017 How hard of a fix is that? The fluid was pretty dirty. It's getting flushed out when I get home.
Skid Posted May 19, 2017 Author #5 Posted May 19, 2017 We had a little spill today when I went to refill the reservoir. Looks like a HD been parked here.
Flyinfool Posted May 19, 2017 #6 Posted May 19, 2017 Hope none of that spill got on the bike. Brake fluid will devour paint and ABS plastic. If any might possibly have got on the bike you need to wash it off yesterday.

Jeff Mine did something similar last year on the way to Sturgis. Came out of the motel by Mitchell, SD pulled the clutch lever in and nothing no pressure. I checked the fluid level and it was bone dry. Looked under the bike and no leaks. Scratched my head bought some fluid filled it up bleed the system and off I went. That was about 20,000 miles ago and I have had no problems since and the fluid level was still up when I changed the fluid last month. So i figured if it ain't broke don't fix it.

bongobobny Posted May 19, 2017 #9 Posted May 19, 2017 Yup Dan, pretty much the same deal with a 2nd gen as well! It's just the right amount of twisting, swear words, more twisting, a swift kick and all of a sudden plop, it's on the floor...
