snyper316 Posted May 11, 2017 #1 Posted May 11, 2017 Now I've gone and done it... I got bored but as I was installing the motor I discovered that huffy is no longer American made.... Its now made in china due to Walmart pushing for lower prices.... Sent from my LG-K371 using Tapatalk
Flyinfool Posted May 11, 2017 #2 Posted May 11, 2017 So how well does that little motor do? Does it now need to be licensed as a moped? or home built moped?
cecdoo Posted May 11, 2017 #3 Posted May 11, 2017 I think a set of Samson Fishtails would dress that baby up:thumbsup: Craig
snyper316 Posted May 11, 2017 Author #4 Posted May 11, 2017 So how well does that little motor do? Does it now need to be licensed as a moped? or home built moped? It does ok for now, got to let it be broke in for 500km or in other words baby it for 300 miles that might take a while. Nope don't even need a drivers license. I tell you tho so far this year I have rode a Rebel, 81 cb650, and now this, tinker has spoiled me because I forgot how much vibes you can get from a bike, the 650 wasn't as bad but you could feel it in the handle bars...
snyper316 Posted May 11, 2017 Author #5 Posted May 11, 2017 O yeah this has nothing to do with the motor, we all thought our Venture brakes are scary. Well this coaster brake for a lack of a better word, they suck..... gonna have to figure something out there. May have to go to bike shop and see if they have some rims with coaster brakes...
CaseyJ955 Posted May 11, 2017 #6 Posted May 11, 2017 Nice project! very cool. Brakes are for sissies anyway, no need to worry about the trivial details.

Sent from my LG-K371 using Tapatalk Look man, if you had the nylon handlebar streamers installed you would have had enough wind resistance to think about maybe stopping somewhat a little bit! Glad you didnt get run down. I have an old parts bike here, a mtn bike that has some disc brakes on front, nothing high end but if you think any of that might help you get some brakes going shoot me a PM with your # and we'll get you hooked up.

Don't think that will work because no where to mount the calipers Sent from my LG-K371 using Tapatalk
CaseyJ955 Posted May 11, 2017 #11 Posted May 11, 2017 You would have to weld some tangs on. You would probably have to use the entire fork, while it does have shocks and discs it bears no resemblance. I guess you will have to keep Flintstoning that mofo to a stop for now. Be careful bruddah.

garyS-NJ Posted May 12, 2017 #14 Posted May 12, 2017 I remember seeing cable operated disc brakes somewhere.. High end bikes and perhaps Chinese mini quads Sent from my VS987 using Tapatalk
snyper316 Posted May 14, 2017 Author #15 Posted May 14, 2017 Well I ended up getting old school brakes for it, they are an improvement over what I did have. Also found that the coaster brake lever was stripped more less. Could have been me, what's crazy I have never seen brake levers do this before. I ordered a gear that clamps to the drum. As I don't like the way this one goes on the wheel. Sent from my LG-K371 using Tapatalk
Rick Haywood Posted May 14, 2017 #16 Posted May 14, 2017 The thing is pretty cool but needs a set of 16 inch ape hangers on it
snyper316 Posted May 14, 2017 Author #17 Posted May 14, 2017 Um actually I have thought about taller bars.. Sent from my LG-K371 using Tapatalk
