Venturous Randy Posted May 9, 2017 Share #1 Posted May 9, 2017 My Lady Linda has a colonoscopy tomorrow afternoon and we are about half way thru the delicious fluid intake part. I am trying to be supportive, but about the only thing I could think to tell her was one of my mom's old sayings which was "This too shall pass". Randy And pass it will, kinda like a fire hose passes water onto a fire.
Flyinfool Posted May 9, 2017 Share #7 Posted May 9, 2017 Best support you can give her is to not get in her way, and do not even think of trying to use her preferred locations in the house.
BlueSky Posted May 9, 2017 Share #8 Posted May 9, 2017 There is a new test available now "cologuard" where you send in a stool sample that my doctor chose when I refused the colonoscopy. If the results are "negative" then they highly recommend the colonoscopy. After reading the directions on how to prepare for the colonoscopy, I thought I might not survive the test preparation. Carbon_One Posted May 10, 2017 Share #9 Posted May 10, 2017 I feel Linda's discomfort and anyone else who's been there done that. I just wet thru this myself Sunday with the test being done Monday morning. The first half gallon was tolerable but getting the rest down was a chore. I found mixing in some Crystal Light lemonade mix helped a lot. Still it was a tough go just the same. Oh yea my test results came back A OK. Good luck Linda. Venturous Randy Posted May 10, 2017 Author Share #10 Posted May 10, 2017 Well, Linda is doing good and went thru the procedure just fine. They did find two small polyps, which they removed, but don't suspect them to be a problem. I read her the comments as we were eating a late lunch. She was a little...uh...surprised that I posted this, but I just reminded her that we are just a big family here and it was OK. Randy
bongobobny Posted May 10, 2017 Share #11 Posted May 10, 2017 Yup, just one of those things we all have to go through (pun maybe intended...) and here's hoping everything is A-OK!! Two weeks ago we went through quite a scare with Becky, they found something and they did indeed suspect cancer and took a biopsy. A week later it came back negative but she still has to go through another colonoscopy in a couple of weeks to remove what is now defined as polyps... Venturous Randy Posted May 10, 2017 Author Share #12 Posted May 10, 2017 Bob, Linda and I will keep Becky in our thoughts and prayers for everything to be OK. Going thru the maturing process of life can be tough. So far, I have been pretty lucky, but with my weight and diabetes, I know I am on the wrong side of having a long life span. Fortunately, when I was in my teens and all my friends were starting to use tobacco, I never started. Now, most of those friends are having serious problems related to a lifetime of using tobacco. snyper316 Posted May 10, 2017 Share #13 Posted May 10, 2017 I am going on 3 months no smoking. I still crave a little bit but I feel a little younger. I started smoking when I was 15, 24 yrs of smoking probably has taken its toll. But better off to quit now while in still breathing other then quit when I'm not. My mom quit early this year too, crazy thing tho all other problems are coming up... She is also waiting on results of her test bit hers was almost a month ago, or she needs something I lost track with all the stuff going on as of lately. I really enjoyed riding bikes with my youngest.. Something I missed out on with my oldest and second oldest. I wouldn't been able to if I hadn't quit... I actually out did him... But in all fairness a 16 in bicycle is geared different then a full on beach cruiser Sent from my LG-K371 using Tapatalk
