tlm Posted April 22, 2017 #1 Posted April 22, 2017 I have a 2002 Midnight Venture. I bought it three years ago and it has a tach mounted on the brake reservoir. I had it in the shop for a few issues and they somehow shorted it out. It stays pegged all the way around now. Is it safe to ride? I'm not sure what brand it is. It goes up to 12000 RPM.
Freebird Posted April 22, 2017 #2 Posted April 22, 2017 I'm sure it is safe to ride but are you SURE it is pegged out? I ask because I had a clutch mounted tac and somehow the needle, vibration or something, got on the wrong side of the peg. I just screwed the face off and gently lifted the needle to the other side of the peg and it was fine from then on.
tlm Posted April 22, 2017 Author #3 Posted April 22, 2017 I'm not sure. That's what they told me. Said they turned the key on and it went all the way around and stayed there. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk

Freebird Posted April 22, 2017 #5 Posted April 22, 2017 Well the pin is there to stop it from going down any further. I still think that is your problem. Worth trying.
tlm Posted April 22, 2017 Author #6 Posted April 22, 2017 I've been trying to get the face off. It's on tight. I'll keep trying and see what happens. Thanks for the advise.
tlm Posted April 22, 2017 Author #7 Posted April 22, 2017 I got the front ring screwed off but the bezel on the gauge will not come off. Thanks for you help.
snyper316 Posted April 22, 2017 #8 Posted April 22, 2017 that would appear that is what has happened here, I would try to find out how to get the glass out of the way and move that needle.
Freebird Posted April 22, 2017 #9 Posted April 22, 2017 Sorry, it was several years ago that I did mine. It appears to be the same tac but I can't remember if it was just hard to get off or what.
tlm Posted April 22, 2017 Author #10 Posted April 22, 2017 Thanks for all advise guys. Think I will just unplug it for now. Leaving on a road trip next weekend. I'll mess with it when I get back. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
